hey guys can any1 tell me, if i'm running a 12 tooth cassette on the back, what size sprocket would i need? 30, or 33?

33/12 is identical to 44/16 which is 'standard' gearing on a stock racing/bmx setup. If you want to be able to pedal easier, but go slower then go with something under 33 (like 30) or if you want to pedal harder & go faster, then go with something larger like 35 or 36.

If you just want everything to stay the same, then 33 is the way to go... and was what I used for several years before smaller sprockets were readily available.

cheers mate, i've now figured that out, and bought new stuff to get away from 44 16 (the dinner plate gear). my bikes running a lot smoother now, i got a 12tooth left side drive odyssey hazard hub, primo spokes, hazard lite rim, chrome, and a 33tooth profile imperial sprocket. it looks SO good now, it's out of the way on disasters and stuff, and the left side drive saves my chain from grinds. its all good. cheers again 4 the advice. jim
