Mountain Biking - I'm not sure what to think of this bike.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I was looking at some other bikes to help out another member and came across this. From the specs it looks nice. Got a o.k. fork (BoXXer Team). Fox DHX 5.0 rear shock. Hayes El Caminos. Sram x.7 shifters. x.9 Rear Derailer. Only thing I can find wrong with it AT FIRST GLANCE is that theres no bashguard. Looks like that chain would get its ass kicked. It has a chainguide, but no bashguard...

And you were talking smack to me in the other thread. Lemme help you out.
This is my bashguard. That big clear Lexan ring thats sits outside the chainrings to protect them from rocks and such.

Neato. As far as that bike goes, I don't care how good it is, it's fugly.

Its good to see bike pics with some dirt. The bashguard is'nt fugly, a mangled chainring & chain is
it is ugly, but I much rather ugly than shelling 40 some bucks for a new outer chainring every other ride.

It has the boxguide which doesn't use a bashgaurd all the time. It is more setup like a bmx without the bash :)
Boxxer team isn't bad at all. Nice setup ut dang ugly.

Seat-tube design looks weak, Bike frame design looks weighted to the front.

I like it......and im guessing $2450 for the retail.
F*** ugly is what, its a diamondback, so thats pretty self explanatory
No but really, its prob a good cheap DH/FR bike, for someone who cant put up more than like 2k for a full bike. Seems alright, but definitley ugly
If the price is right, that changes everything. I kind of like the way it looks actually, and that 4-bar linkage looks pretty well designed.

Dang I would buy it for the parts and sell the frame. Amazing price set for what you get
BTW it will actuate like a single pivot. There is no horst ;)

I don't know about that...it's similar to the interrupted-seat-tube design of the FSR...granted, the angle at which the shock linkage is at would produce a slight forward motion of the rear wheel at first. Around the middle of the stroke of the travel though, where it would likely be operating most of the time, its geometry becomes more like the ideal Horst linkage.

Similar but missing thehorst linkage. (at least I can't see it) the horst linkage is what makes fsr better than say a kona which has 4 bars as well. You would still suffer from brake jack worse than on a bighit for example.

To use the Horst linkage DB would have had to licence it from Specialized. One more thing that bike is FUGLY

it looks ugly like a........ 1990 rust bucket dodge neon with a big spoiler on it. Nice fork though. also the clearence from the seat and handlebars is only like a foot easy when you stand on the pedals or slam on your front breaks.

Wait for it...wait..wait..Are you an idiot. St. Petersburg, FL is in FLORIDA. Hence the FL. Not to sound like a jerk. But what kind of question is that.
Luke, i'm with you. It says on there website $1800+ is the pricerange its in. I also agree with Mael. The frame isn't the best. But look at the components. It'd be cool to buy and put that **** on a nice frame. Although for the price and spec it could be a decent frame. Considering none of you have riden one, i'm going to ignore those comments. I've seen much, much uglier DH bikes.
*Edit* After looking at it some more it looks like a really agressive bike. I wouldn't be suprised if it rides really smooth. After all the '05 BoXXer's are supposidly better and the hype about the fox DHX 5.0 makes me think that his has potential to be a really nice ride. Sometimes you shouldn't look down on bikes just because they are made by a "Walmart" company. Heck, Hoppers Mongoose looks pretty sweet.

I think it looks good also. Not as good as the bighit FSR, but still good...
The top tube does seem really short, I wonder if its just the pic?

About the seattube snapping off. Um, maybe if you landed while sitting on your seat. When I do drops or ride DH (which is this bikes purpose) I stand up. I can't see someone snapping the seat tube very easily.
It may not be a looker, but I think it has better specs then the FSR.
On the DB website it says "In the $1800+ range"

Could have picked a worse color I suppose.
Hmmmmmmmm Hmmmmmmmm
I started a big DB/Raleigh thread recently, and pretty much decided I am a Specialized guy mostly with an eye on Kona.
This post rocks the boat. Especially considering my LBS carries DB/Raleigh's. That's cool..
Yes its ugly, but, its local and if it rides good, I;m sold.
Anyone rode those yet??
