Do i have to get record pista bottom bracket to run record pista cranks?
anyone know the specs? ISO? 68x111? would any shimano bb's not work or something?
anyone run campy record pista cranks with an alternatively cheaper bb?

Nope. Length is more important. But would you compromise the more important BB when you clearly didn't for the crankset?

What's so special about a Record Pista BB that would justify its cost over a lower priced BB? I have a hard time believing you'll notice much of a difference when riding when compared to a lower priced BB (as long as you're not picking the worst of the worst of the worst to begin with). I've had cheap stock BBs run smooth for many miles and no problems... it makes me wonder what's so special about these $100+ ones.

Campy tax; it's very similar to the NJS and hipster taxes.

I would stick with Campy on that one... whats one is one, and if it were me, I wouldn't feel right running Record cranks without the campy bottom bracket. But that's just one persons opinion.

So you're saying the Campagnolo BB really is not that much better (if it's better at all) and there is absolutely no reason for him to get the "nicer" BB other than street cred because all the price differential really reflects is a brand name surcharge?
I'm the opposite of Lilcphoto. If the taper fits and the BB spins well, why bother wasting hard earned dollars on something I'll never notice?

I ran a Veloce BB when I had those cranks on my Benotto. Nice cranks but I like Sugino 75s a lil better.

It's the same philosophy with camera lenses... I choose to go with canon lenses because I don't want to risk anything happening...even though those other lens manufacturers make their lenses compatible and test out everything, I just feel safer knowing if something fails its canons fault not an incompatibility issue.

You do not understand until you have joined the ranks of roadies. You should read my first post in this thread.
Brand name does partly have to do with it, Campagnolo's lineage is completely astounding, unmatched; this is due to quality and innovation which does come at a price of course. My comparison was with how campagnolo makes roadies and vintage collectors drool like how NJS does for hipsters.
And will you guys give street cred a break? As street cred is such BS in my book, especially from my roadie point of view; take a nice expensive complete road bike, toss the frame, transition the parts to any track frame = street cred... and street cred for BB is overrated anyway, it's not like people are going to see your BB....
