Hi I've been saving for some time and want to buy a nice new classic fixed gear bike.

I really like the old classic steel lugged look but I want to know what bikes I should be considering if I want to buy a NEW CLASSIC fixed/ SS... (currently ride an old cheap fixed gear so want an upgrade).. Not sure how much i want to spend yet so I can't give you too much indication there sorry.

I'm thinking along the lines of the classic italian brands,

ciocc, guerciotti, de rosa, colnago, bianchi and I guess the ultimate would be something like a Tommasini but I think that may be a tad out of my league...

Anyone have any opinions on what NEW classics I should consider?

Should i consider aluminium also or stick to steel for the real deal (i think the colnago is alu but the ciocc and guerciotti are steel)?

Thanks any tips on what bikes to look at would be great... :thumb:

just buy an old pista. the lugged maxways are nice but it won't be classic enough for you.

I think, by definition, "new classic" is an oxymoron. Classic things are so only in retrospective.

What about the new track frame frome velomine? That might fit the bill, no?

i've been looking for the same thing, but on a slightly lower budget. if you have $1500 there's a lot of options out there. you can buy a complete from one of the said brands, or attempt to find a frame for a ridiculously inflated price. buying an old keirin frame is a place to start as well, but again, it wont be cheap. as far as cheaper options go, there's the langster steel and the fuji feather, both again, overpriced.

Though if you want lugs, you'd have to step it up to the Wabi Special... (http://www.wabicycles.com/special_bike_spec_red.html)

yeah you're kind of right but I mean a re-make of some of the old classics that some of the bike companies are making.
