We've got some guys down here that do the same stuff... cutting drops into faux-bull horns and the like.

that CL add says it's for someone 5' or 5'10" lolol.
but there's a similar poster up here in detroit.
i've actually seen the same bike listed a ton of times lately with different sales pitches. once it said he was selling it to raise money for his wife's chemo treatments. it seems false and in bad taste.

I think I could easily build something like this for under $100, including the alcohol I'd have to drink to think the paint scheme is a good idea.

He's got to have a ****load of experience doing this by now, so I'm guessing at least the bikes are probably ok mechanically and if people like the colours - more power to him. Nice side job.

yeah definitely.. he must make a ton of money too cause each of the fixed gear bikes i just posted are listed from 200 - 280.. pretty good $ for bikes he's probably getting for very cheap. i wonder what he does with all of the components he pulls, cause he doesn't sell them on CL

Jesus Christ, who looks at that color combination and says "Yeah, I think that looks good..."
Also, is he buying old bikes and flipping them? Even so, that's quite a bit of time to rattle can all of those. I did it to my bike and it took at least a day or so, and I did it lazily...

He most likely has access to a spray booth or is a mobile scratch & dent repair guy making some extra money on the side. Good for him - but those bikes are hideous. He could just as easily make them somewhat classy looking.

Selling those ugly conversions are much better than what this d0uchenozzle is doing:

To be honest, I rattle canned my conversion. But I think it looks better than that. Still need to find a friend with a camera...
I just hate colored chains, If I am going to pimp out a fixie I would polish everything to a high shine, get some leather bar wrap and a leather seat to match it and some of these.http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/yhst-129547854820685_2158_242207482 Which I have and are just great so far.
I really like deep red and white bikes, I think they have the best color that look stylish with components.

Can someone explain to me just exactly how this guy is able to sell these for 200-300 bucks? I mean is he buying super old frames, throwing new components on, painting then selling?
I can't realistically see how he's turning htese out for that much?

i think the only things new he puts on are a flip flob hub and sometimes new tires
he can sell them because people will buy them... fixies are huge in San Jose.. it's what every kid wants to ride

Yea, every time I go through San Jose, I see tons of kids on conversions. It's funny because I saw a little kid, no more than 5'3" tall, riding what seemed to be a 57cm or even bigger bike. Had the seat slammed, and still couldn't reach the pedals when it was at the lowest point of the revolution. He'd push the pedal, then catch it when it came back around, LOL. And he didn't even have brakes.
