I want to put some more tread on my road bike. Problem is that it is an older fuji with 27" wheels. I am looking for a 27x1 1/4 or 1 1/2 if they make that with some tread to it. Anybody have any idea.

I can't say, but if you find one, be sure to let me know. Would be cool if somebody made a cyclocross tire in 27". My SS Schwinn World Sport would love to be a winter bike!

Club Roost makes a 27" cyclocross tire. Harris Cyclery had them not long ago. I have also bought some Kenda 27 x 1 3/8 with offroad tread from my LBS - about $8 as I recall. Had them in stock. Maybe not the best tire, but I don't put a lot of miles on the bike they are on and they have done fine so far.

I have a pair of Kenda 27 x 1 3/8 knobbies somebody gave me. I'm thinking about putting them on my old Flandria I use for commuting.
Before you buy a treaded tire, read Sheldon Brown's article about tires at the Harris Cyclery site.

Mars, I agree with Sheldon for, as he says, riding on pavement, i.e. asphalt. But tread is useful in snow or mud.
