Home mechanics, what are the best ways to store tools? I've got a workbench in the garage with a lower shelf and some plastic trays right now, I want to do better than this. Pictures are helpful.

This is my system. The funny thing is I have a lot of shelf space and the peg board that holds a lot of tools, I'm just too lazy to put anything away.

i have a 2 drawer rally box that does all the bread and butter work. its loaded and disorganized but fits everything i need for the most common jobs. also have a mechanic style tool box under the bench.

+1 on the peg board or a piece of plywood bolted to the wall behind the workbench and nails to hand the tools on.
The goal is to have them immediately accessible and within easy reach. I have pegboard and a roll-away toolbox in my basement shop, but I have a my most commonly used tools and supplies for bikes in a two-drawer toolbox which I can keep near the bikes in the garage or take with me as needed.

Have a work bench with a vise.
Use a peg board to hold your frequently-needed tools.
Get a decent size tool box(es) to hold the rest of the tools.
