I'm riding stock Bontrager 700x23 Race Lite tires on a Trek 5000; I'm 225 lbs. At 250 miles now, the rear tire has a series of small shallow cuts across the slick center line. The cuts are roughtly 1/16 inch deep slightly angled into the center line and are not uniform. They do not extend past the slick center line. The rubber just appears to be breaking off in these small cuts. The front tire shows none of this wear. I now run 120 psi after experimenting with 100-110 psi for the first fifty miles or so. I did 30 min on a CycleOps trainer with what I considered to be very light resistance applied to the rear tire. All other time has been on asphalt roads in ambient temp of 70-90 degrees. I didn't notice the cuts in the rear tire until after my ride today; I've put 30 miles on the tire since the trainer ride. Anyone have similar experience either with Bontrager tires or any damage from a trainer? Other thoughts?
