Last week the Arkansas Bicycle Club held the third annual Bike Ride Around Arkansas. The tour ride was 6 days with one day added for many of us. We rode in the Southwest section of the state. There were a total of 12 participants with 9 riding the entire route.
Of interest was the fact we had three tour riders come in from other states to participate in this ride with us. They certainly added a lot to the tour and we thank them for attending. We had a rider from Illinois, a rider from Virginia and a rider from Texas.
We tried to pack as much into the six days as we could. It seemed to be a success and we hope to have more join us on our self supported tours in the future.
The next tour ride will be this fall. This ride will be mostly to remote or primitive campsites with many miles of forest service dirt and gravel roads. The tour will be 4 or 5 days. The final plans are not done.
I know these self supported rides are not cross country, but it is a lot of fun for many of us still working and can only get a week off at a time. Of course, most any tour ride is a fun ride.
