I would strongly advise against getting a bike at Canadian Tire, especially a full-suspension for 'freeriding'.
Don't be tempted by the looks, the components are not good at all and they are often assembled poorly.
I don't say this because I'm a bike snob, it is because these bikes will quickly fall apart if you do 'abuse' them (they consider riding them off-road 'abuse' BTW) and you would simply not be safe on them!
A used hardtail would be a lot better for that kind of money.
EDIT:
Oh, and 'Mercalli' is just a knock-off of Marzocchi. Again, don't be decieved by the looks. It is the internals that matter.

You are prob right. But for now i just want sumthing cheap. I also didn no that Mercalli wuz a nock off of marzochi. Thanks
The shox on your bike are okay for you but wouldn't reccomend it for freestyle but they will do for a cheap bike !

mxwolf, lets just say they are equal. But you have to admit the frame on the xt1 is better looking. But looks can be decieving.

Aren't Supercycles those crummy, 5-ton, scrap iron MTB lookalike bikes they sell at Canadian Tire?

Watch out for the cheaper shox, they sometimes bend abit when you abuse them. you'd probably have to find someone who used mercalli's for a while to tell you how they hold up. If that is somethign you are worried about.
no " FreeRider " ( if thats what you call yourself beacuase a true freerider wo't be riding a xt1-18ds) the 2100gsd is by far a better bike than the xt1-16 or 15 ds !!:crash:

Without looking at the supercycle bikes AT ALL....I will say they are pieces of ****, and dont buy them because you wont be able to ride it to your mailbox without it breaking.

Well they arent bad bikes. Like they arent the best and dont compare to norco. They have some nice shocks back and front and they dont break too often. I have 1 it wuz about $230 its sturdy, the frame is nice and the shocks are ok. It isnt a bad bad bike. Bike like u guys say, it isnt the best...

Tell Klein to pound sand! If you're out riding and having fun, who cares what kind of bike it is!
My first bike was junk compared to the one I'm riding now, but you know what? I had just as much fun, if not more, on it as my current ride.
It's not the bike, it's the rider!

Yes, thats true in alot of cases....but in some, its not true. And urbanking.....well, nevermind. Freerider, sure get the bike if u want, if your going to be doing some hardcore stuff....then u might want to think about saving up some more money and getting a better bike. And A2, the pound sand really hurt my feelings....really really:D

Yup, pretty decent especially for the price. That was to my surprise, me and my freind sometimes compare them to his bombers on his Norco VPS shore. lol
Too bad i sold the bike. lol
That bike isn't that upgradable ... though the 2100gsd is a better bike... lol

Axiom is Norcos affiliate company. They make alot of parts that are found on Norcos. Norco just makes bikes. If thats what you meant.
they are all right for light riding for a cheap shock
there okay for a beginer " free rider "

damn! thats 1 nice bike. Ive seen it before i even tried it out. Its about $345 and its shocks are amazing. Its frame is light and the tires are unbeatable. The breaks are awesome 2. I might buy it, i dunno. The shocks on that thing rule alot of travle. Thanks klein.

What do you guys think of the Hyper Urban Assault??
Heres a pic,
What the hell is that?????
Do you have a website for that thing???
Seriously tho, that bike only looks like a "urban" bike. It has substandard parts. If you buy one and start jumping or doing drops, something is going to break. You could really injure yourself. If you getting it to just ride around on it is fine, but if you plan on "freeriding" save up and get something that will hold up. Try maybe a Kona Scab, it is fully rigid but it will hold up. You can add a 4" fork latter.
Kevin
How big are the drops/jumps you do Freerider?

Snapper? dont they make lawn mowers?
urbanking
04-21-02, 01:34 PM
Ummm, yeh i think so, but that says hyper, not snapper, it is weird writing so i can understand the mistake.
urbanking
04-21-02, 01:37 PM
Oh, and as for the bike, the parts are ok, my biggest worry is the brakes. My old bike had similar plastic arms, and such, and they provided little to no power. They would be the first thing i'd change, other than that it does look kinda cool.:) Upgrades can and will always be made eventually.
