OK, so I was spring cleanin my 1964 CCM Flyer and run out of grease doin the hubs.
Since it is Sunday and the bike shops here is close, I go upstairs to the kitchen and fetched the can of bacon drippings. It sits on counter beside the stove.

Well, i only use the congealed white fat whitch is the middle layer. That leaven the black floating stuff on top and the heavier chunks of black crud What sinks to the bottom.

It worked like lickety-split on the BB and the crank is spinning smooooth and quiet real quick.

Now, bacon fat is organic and don't make me impotent like if an wen I get that green synthetic grease on mi bare hands. Bobby-Jean she's always gets angry at me after working on bikes because I'm plum unable 2 satisy her deepest needs so this be a good thing.

Hear is ware the trouble begins, every dog on the street now sniffs my bottom bracket and pees on my back wheel.

What should I do?

Geez- you Canadians. Next thing you'll try is whale blubber.

Get that stuff out of your hub and bottom bracket- now! It's going to go rancid and start stinking, and then the dogs on the Galloping Goose will be the least of your worries.

I've been using lithium grease for years- not only do I not have problems with my wife, she says I'm the sanest man she knows.
