Northern California - New to California, looking for people to ride with!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey everyone, I am 23 y/o and I just moved out to sunny California from Ohio a few months ago! I have been riding as much as possible lately (Calavares Rd., and around San Ramon/Danville). I would love to find some people to ride with. I usually do about 50 miles throughout the week and ~30+ mile rides on the Saturdays/Sundays. I am willing to drive and meet up around the East Bay area for weekend rides. Looking forward to meeting some new riding partners! Cheers!

I'm in Livermore, but my ex. and kids are in San Ramon. Don't know what your weekday schedule is like, but tomorrow I'm doing a slow ride up Diablo from the S. Gate with a couple of friends - you're welcome to join us. We're meeting at the Draeger's parking lot (corner of Tassajara and Blackhawk/Crow Canyon) around 9. I ride all around the area a lot - right now my weekends are taken up by coaching a team in training ride group, but after July 9 I'll be looking for rides on the weekends.

Ok nice, that could be good. I usually work 9-5 but actually don't have to be into work tomorrow until around 1. so that could possibly work for me as long as were done around 1230ish? thanks for the invite! And ya it sounds like your weekends are pretty busy, but maybe we could organize a weekend ride after July 7th. Thanks again.

Hi, Jordan - looks like it might rain, but I need the saddle time so I'm riding unless it's torrential. For now it looks like we're meeting up at 9:00 - check this thread in the morning - I'll post again if that changes.

JB

PS - I have a blue Subaru Forrester with a bike rack on the top.

I think a few of us are doing a bike ride that starts in San Ramon on the 30th, this Saturday. Check out the thread called "DMD" something or whatever.

JB, thanks and I will check in the morning. Weather is supposed to be great for rest of the week (all except Monday, of course!) so I don't know what your schedule is like for the remainder of the week if rain happens tomorrow. Hopefully it will be ok though!

I'm doing the Grizzly Peak Century on Sunday, but I'll be riding plenty this week. I'm treating that as a training ride to see how I'm progressing, so I'm not going to taper for it. Not sure what my schedule will be like for the rest of the week, though, so it's a bit tough to commit right now.

@ JB, it won't let me reply to your message because I don't have enough posts yet? But thanks for the heads up about today and you'll have to let me know if you end up rescheduling for tomorrow! Thanks again.

yes. Cleveland....let's just say its nice to be out here!

I used to hear jokes about Cleveland, but paid no attention.
Then just after graduating college, I got a job interview at the Cleveland Clinic.
Cool!:thumb:
Then I drove there for the interview.
Well, the clinic was OK, but everything around it: Ugh!:twitchy:
Wasn't sorry not to get that job.

It was pretty much the same story when I interviewed at the U of Chicago.

Welcome, I moved out here after finishing college near Cleveland. I miss the summer storms in Ohio, but not much else...

I just recently learned that it doesn't rain/storm here in the summer! That is going to be weird for me...a summer storm is nice every now and again.

Being a native Californian, it's seems weird to me when I go other places and it rains in the middle of the summer  A few summers ago I was in Idaho and it was like 90 degrees during the day and then it hailed in the middle of the night. WTF

Ya if youre not liking the weather in midwest especially...just wait an hour and it can drastically change. now worries with that out here though!

Looks like we're neighbors - I live in San Ramon, too. I'm a real casual pace rider, but if you're interested I can show you around the 'hood. San Ramon is fairly safe, as long as you keep moving and don't make eye contact with anyone. :)

I don't know, John - I keep seeing SUVs around with dents in the shape of a water bottle!

One of the Valley Spokesmen touring club rides this Sunday is the Palomares/Dublin Grade loop starting at Foothill and Dublin Canyon in Pleasanton at 10:45 on Sunday (just south of I-580). We'll ride south to Sunol and then return with climbs over Palomares and Dublin Canyon.
