I currently have my 2010 Trek 2.1 road bike for sale locally but thought, what if I can make it what I want it to really be. I initially thought the road bike was the way to go but after buying it and riding it last season I need more traction as the trails around here are limestone and some, which I haven't ventured on, are a rougher and "sketchy" on a road bike.
My initial though was to just switch the tires out, if I could, with a more aggressive tire. Fork is too small. 700x23 tires on there now. The front fork inside width is 1.5" (3.81cm) and the rear is 1.75" (4.445cm).
Could I change the front fork out for a new one that will allow a more aggressive tire that is 35mm? If so, what would one suggest? Other ideas to make it happen? Is the rear wide enough already for that size of a tire?
