Fit might be "close to right" due to the compact frame. I'm 5' 9", 32 (pant size) inseam. I ride an Allez 54cm. I could have fit a 56 as well. I could not fit a 58.

Hope this helps,

ehenz

Is that pants inseam?

I'm not sure if that's the same as what we measure.

I'm only 5'11", but have a 34.25" inseam, and I own two 56s, two 57s, three 58s, and two 59s (too big).
I'd say the 57s fit me the best.

You could go to a Specialized dealer and ask to test ride a size 58, or just stand over one and see if there are any obvious problems (can't reach pedals).

If there in one in your area you could have your definitive answer on sizing in minutes.

$150?!? yes, buy it!

for the record, i'm 5' 11" and i own a 58cm 2003 allez comp and it fits great. i also have a 32in inseam. i put on a slightly shorter stem though, but as it came stock worked for me.

Search saddle.

My recomendation is a Brooks. (but if you searched too, you will see a lot of opinions. But Brooks comes up most often)

I'm 6' and I have a 33" inseam. I also happen to have a 58cm Allez Elite.

Buy the bike. It'll fit you.

You will have to replace the wheel set. The alex wheels are total crap, but the bike is very solid...

Just so i can join the club, I got a 2004 Allez! (size 56cm just cuz eveyone else is putting there size) :p
Now we can go on to talk about the greatness of sub $1000 allez bikes! :D

Oh Oh!! Me too! I have a 52cm 2004 Allez!

And if I could have gotten it for $150... wow...

And I wound up replacing the saddle and pedals anyhow - the body geometry seat that came with it is an instrument of torture and I needed some float in my pedals. Though if you really want the pleasure of a full specialized allez bike, I'll happily sell the saddle* to you :P

*Not a guarantee that it should be confused with an actual saddle

Let's see - a 2004 Allez Elite goes for at least $900 in the stores. This person could sell it for $600-$700 without a problem. Yet he/she wants only $150 for it. Why is this an interesting post? Because it sounds too good to be true! Stolen bike? Gift that is now unwanted? Total lack of respect for value? A gift with a price tag ($150)?

Doesn't it seem a little strange that this post is about a sizing question? I'm more interested in the how and why. I'm wondering if there isn't someone that is morning the loss of a 58cm Allez Elite, a bike that might now be sold for as little as $150.

Now that I've made an accusatory remark let me say that I've got nothing against a good deal. I just feel that a public post should try to be an honest expression of someone's interests. This post isn't just about a sizing question - it's about a great deal. I just don't read much into great deal side of the post that seems forthcoming. I'm left to wonder at the deal of the century, a $900 bike going for $150, without explanation.

If this poster hasn't bothered to ask why they're selling at below market value, I think that's an invitation to be a party in fraud.

Strange to have made such a bad sizing choice on a big ticket item. And now, having made a bad sizing choice, this person want to enhance your cycling career with a $500 gift. Wow - I need to get out more often to meet these people!

You should meet people. joining sites to bad mouth others must be a side effect of no actual human interaction. to much computer exposure can lead to paranoia and conspiracy theories.
