I don't want to be boring, and I know I've posted a lot about having a bike topple 18 months ago

But I had some medical attention 3 weeks ago, taking out some metal rods from my left leg - and as well as the metal, the surgery also seemed to take out a lot of pain and a lot of mental anxiety and a lot of restriction of movement

So last weekend. First outing on the tandem for a serious ride. (We've done a few little toddles before)

First 'swing my leg over the tube and stoker bars, rather than lay the bike on the ground and step over it'

First 45 miles, first doing that inside 2 hours since the accident

First middle ring out of the saddle climb for a steep quarter mile

And the sweet stoker was kind enough to say she felt I was confident enough to make her feel confident. Hey, good, no?

Life is good :thumb:

Great news. The feedback from the stoker is paramount.

Great news! Of course my jealousy over your brisk sub-2 hour 45 miles takes a bit away from the good vibes;).

Thanks to all, I appreciate your support, it's been a bit of a long haul getting back to this state

And Mr rdt - it was a calm, no wind morning, roads smooth and flat as a pancake, and the stokette has been getting herself into very good and skinny shape. The Santana (mid 90s steel Visa) isn't the fastest climbing or accelerating bike, but it seems to hold its momentum very solidly. That morning, big ring and middle of the cassette on both directions of our out-and -back run. (Usually we have to drop to middle gear and larger cogs when we have a headwind on the return direction!)
