I frickin love that frame. From what i've gathered, Affinity is a small operation so there probably aren't a lot of lo pro frames floating around out there. You could try a nationwide craigslist search at www.allofcraigs.com (http://www.allofcraigs.com)

yea, affinity is a super awesome shop. i live right down the street from there, and go there whenever i need new parts (that scrod doesn't have....). maybe i'll stop in there later today when they open and check out their stock and see what i can shake up about this "secret color".
i've been looking for a new frame as well, as UPS botched a frame i bought on ebay. once that money comes back in from the claim (if it ever does) then i'm gonna scrap a bit more together and check those frames out. i'll post back later

@I Have a Bike Thanks for the link, but they have all the sizing xcept the ones that fit me.
@hailandkill and @cinemattic thanks for the insight, and yea keep us posted!!
Mid June isn't that far away, I might wait..but if i find a good deal I'm definitely taking it.
With that said. Spread the word-I don't mind buying a used frame.:thumb:

i talked to the dude there. this is the only pertinent info i could get
the two colors they're gonna have is like a drab, dark green. i believe matte finish, but could have flakes..
and of course, black, matte finish
and at the beginning of june, they're gonna announce a new color, limited run. can't wait to hear what it is. i test rode one of the used ones they had in the shop, and i gotta say that **** is snappy. that back tire just follows the front and feels like it just predicts where it's gonna go. mega twitchy, but in a good fun way.
you know i'm gonna be the first in line when they get the new shipment in.

@cinemattic--I bought a frame on CL and its such a fun ride!!! super responsive and stiff. Oh yea and its steel!!!!
@muppetmower--Sizing runs true. I measured it and everything was exactly what the website said it was.

yea, the website is weird with how things are labeled, and how they determine their size
all i can tell you is that i usually ride a 58, and the large felt really good. a medium woulda been weird, and based on my height (6'3") woulda been uncontrollably twitchy

Ya, I'm around a 58 and 6', but that seattube on the large is so big. I guess I do see most of them set up with significantly less seat post than normal. Did you try one out with risers or bullhorns?
cinemattic
05-13-11, 10:02 AM
it was one with uncut risers, which i'm not a big fan of. i am gonna put either bulls or drops when i get one.
and about the seat tube, it pretty much just hides the seatpost more. i have currently on my leader a moderatly high seat to stem height, and they had to drop the seatpost down for me on the lo pro a bit.
but, if you're a drops kinda guy, your back is gonna be flat when you reach down for em. when i was grabbing the risers by the stem it was pretty comfortable, but any lower than that you're gonna be aero

I want one sooooo bad. If I pull off a 4.0 this semester it will be my gift to myself. If not, I'll find some other way to justify it. Any idea what size a guy who's 6'1" and has a 35" inseam should look for?
cinemattic
05-14-11, 08:19 AM
Large, for sure. it's gonna feel weird when you stand over it because of the sloping top tube, but once you get up and going on it it'll feel right...

I contacted Affinity and got a nice, quick reply:
Hey Albert, production ran about a month behind schedule. Frames should
be shipping any day, so we will now have them in mid July. I apologize
for the delay. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
Ben
Mid-July, awesome. Can't wait. Hopefully I'll have enough money by then...

Here's my current set up. Im 5'7'' this is a size small frame. I sold my bullhorns so im riding these regular city bars, until I find ones I like. The tire clearance is super tight!!!!!! the handling is amazing.

I love my Lo Pro. The geometry seems weird but it handles beautifully in the street. Makes my road bike feel sluggish.

06-16-11, 02:25 PM
The weird thing about the geometry for me is that the effective top tube is my perfect length, but the seat tube (traditional sizing) is so long. Is that why so many Lo Pro builds I see show very little seatpost?
They are built to look like a lat 80s/ early 90s persuit frame, but ride like the standard road fixed bike. Its done by elongating the seat tube, but not changing any of the demensions of the frame. The black line on this image is basically what affinity has done. No difference in ride quality, just in looks and seat tube measurement, for the most part.

It's not just that, I think. Based on the charts, the angles are pretty steep, and the chainstays are pretty short. Perhaps not a fixed road frame, but definitely made to be a twitchy and track.
I said all that after borrowing a low pro for about a month, Ive never actually looked at the charts. But after looking at it, nothing makes sense about the quality. Having the same stay length over 8cm in tt length and not being able to say the ht angle just screams poor product to me.

06-16-11, 02:52 PM
The HT thing is a little weird, and I'm surprised they haven't updated that yet, but why should chainstay length change?
stryper
06-16-11, 09:08 PM
...but why should chainstay length change?
As the seat tube gets longer, or taller, it will extend further over the rear wheel because of the angle. So a 52cm will have the edge of the seat tube overlapping the tire by 2cm, and a 63cm frame would have it overlapping by 5cm. (Just an example, don't anyone go measuring on me now.)
So instead a frame could extend out the chainstays like 1cm for every 3cm longer the seat tube is, to maintain the same feel in the rear end. Most the time on an aggressive frame like that you want the wheel to be as close to the seat tube as possible though.

ugh... mid july... was gonna buy one for my birthday, which was beginning of june. been fiending for a super nice present for myself. oh well.. gonna let that cash burn a bigger hole in my pocket i guess
and as far as the geometry goes, i have to say that whatever they're doing btwn the TT length and chainstay length, it's all good stuff. can't wait to get my dirty little fingers all over it

Definitely tarck geo. Seems to elongate the TT for a shorter wheelbase, like the pursuit bikes of yore. Minus the 24" wheel and fork.
Haven't checked the actual charts, but that fork---might be the geo---looks a little road.

This wouldn't be the first time Affinity has pushed a date back. I think they make some really cool stuff, and I love my Lo-Pro, but you have to keep in mind that they are a relatively young shop and a pretty small operation, so they may not hold to these dates for a number of reasons.

Yeah, I know. I mean, the geometry chart for the Lo Pro is all sorts of screwed up. But in the end it's all about the product, and it seems like everyone's happy with their Lo Pro. I hope to get mine. I'm in no rush.
evil--thanks for the tip. I have family in San Diego, but LA would still be quite a trip even if I visited them. I did check their website though, and it says they are temporarily unavailable. I know that websites don't necessarily reflect store stock, however.
Today I went into Box Dog and they had a couple Lo Pros, one built up, one frameset, but both in the 650c size. Apparently they're not dealing with Affinity anymore, which is a real shame...
