Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Who has long nipples?

OK, what I'm really after is some colored spokes, a little over 300mm (308ish) that are sold individually. I've seen places online that sell individual colored spokes, but they usually top off at 300mm. I've also seen longer ones in which you have to buy a box of 36 but I only need 8. I looked at a few local shops but that was pretty hopeless and I suppose I don't blame them for not wanting to carry stock on weird stuff.

But regarding the title of this thread, it's for a 27" wheel, and I had an alternative idea. If buying ~308mm colored spokes individually just isn't an option, maybe someone could point me in the direction of some nipples that are just a few mm longer than normal? I tried a 300mm spoke which was PRETTY MUCH long enough, but I think it'd probably be pretty unsafe without a few more mm of thread contact. Of course, just buying the spokes individually would be ideal.

Or as a third option, anybody wanna go in on a box of 36 308mm blue or red spokes?? :thumb:

with all due respect to your build, why go with 27inch wheels? you'll find a lot more options in tires, rims and spokes at 700c

I'm not doing a wheel build per se, I just broke two spokes on my front wheel and wanted to replace them because I like this rim fine for this bike. Then I noticed something in the pattern of the spokes I thought was interesting (very new to this actually) and I thought.. While I'm at it, to accentuate the thing I like about this pattern I should replace every 7th and 8th spoke with something different than the ones that are on there, because it might look cool. At first I thought of using black which are easier to find, but then I thought of making the spokes the same color as my bar tape (red) or my seat (blue) and now I'm kinda bent on seeing how it would look.

Ah, that makes sense. Yeah I think the nipples on my deep v wheels (different bike) are like this.. they just stick down a little farther so I can reach them with the tool.. So yeah I would definitely need to find some that have threading that extends farther away from the flange.

Hm, well I do not know the make of the wheel, but I'm basing this on my own measurements of the existing spokes. Perhaps I'm measuring wrong? I measured with a ruler from end to end and what I came up with was between 30 and 31cm, a little closer to 31.

As for quarter stacking, I just wonder how many nipples one must measure in order to gather ample data to flesh out a tight average.
