For the last few weeks I've been experimenting with "Google Alerts" to gather news stories about cycling. I've been impressed by the results and I encourage other cyclists to check it out.
The Google system scans newspapers and newswires from around the world based on the user's individual search terms, then sends a daily summary to your email address. I've set up an account that scans for the word "bicycle" and Google usually returns five to ten articles in a digest format with links to the news sources. Usually the articles deal with safety and legal issues such as accidents, crimes against cyclists, Critical Mass, etc. In other words... many of the issues that are regularly discussed in this forum.
It takes only seconds to set up a Google Alert and it's easy to modify or cancel if you're not pleased with the results. Here's the link:
