I have seen enough almost livestrong bands but here is a real clone
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=7296&item=7111537317&rd=1
then dumb ones like this that say they support something but don't do anything but make a profit for the seller
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=7296&item=7111532482&rd=1
then this one that you have no clue what it says.

this one promises a lot http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=7296&item=7111494720&rd=1
well I found a bunch of different colored ones with the livestrong logo. those get turned into ebay.
What I'd like to know is how did they get the new colors? Are these fake bands dyed? Meaning they started out as yellow but were dipped in a differant color, which also means the new color will wear off. Or were they actually made with the differant color? I also thought the LIVESTRONG name was a trademark. If it is then there could be legal ramifications for those selling these fake bracelets.
hehe thats funny, stupid people these days.....

This of course brings to mind a scene from a Futurama episode...
Lrr: "Blech! These candies are chalky and unpleasant!"
Wife: "And what is this emotion you humans call 'wuv'?"
Lrr: "Surely it says 'love'."
Wife: "No, 'wuv'! With an Earth 'w'. Behold!"
Lrr: "This concept of 'wuv' confuses and infuriates us!"

I think most on ebay are real. http://www.laf-store.org/ but they are pretty delayed.
If you suspect a scam, contact laf.org and report it- send them the link so they can investigate. I reported those rainbow bracelets, and I got a concerned email back from the foundation. They said they were definitely going to pursue it legally.

yeah, but I would say that 95% of people who wear the real ones also do it for the fad.

Thanks..I finally got my order in for some real Livestrong bands..Now, my cycling group will not be unique when we stop at coffee stops frequented by cyclists.
Had waited for certain stores to stock them as promised, but they can't keep them in stock fast enough...
Don't think it a fad..Well, maybe . But I hope it marks you as a cycling fanatic in support of Lance Armstrong's cancer charties...I would not wear one, if it did not. After all, they are just cheap plastic painted in one of my favorite colors.
The rainbow one's... kinda gay. I know they have a pink one that's for breast cancer or something. That one's legit.

That is the unfortunate sad case. Even if they're not, they are "ballers". Gosh stab me now.

When you're done, stick me also. Sheep suck. :D

Although this can be looked at as a fad, I've seen people who have mistaken 'legitimate' wearers for sheep.
For example: A girl is sitting in front of me in class and is wearing a livestrong band. The people next to me (who I know are cyclists) comment to each other about how they hate it when people wear the bands for no reason. They pointed at the girl and made some other rude comments. I then leave over and very politely say, "Her brother has cancer *******." Of course I know this girl and what she's gone through but these jerks were actually making fun of her for wearing it. I hope you weren't one of those morons.
Sheep suck.
And the wolves aren't angels either.
And the wolves aren't angels either.
Nice shot. People seem to forget the band doesn't represent cyclists, it represents hope in the fight against cancer.
I ride, but I wear mine because my 98 yr-old grandmother recently passed from it and my wife just had a near-miss / bad scare with it.

I wear my Livestrong (I've purchased 20, and have given all but 2 away) band, as I know what cancer's all about. I do happen to be an avid cyclist, but that's not why I have one on my wrist right now. Apparently, there are those who wear it as some sort of status symbol, or for reasons other than the fight against cancer. While I simply don't understand this attitude, I still like the fact that the LAF gets one more dollar to fight against this horrid disease.
The bottom line is that, in my opinion, most people are fashion idiots. They are all about show, and nothing about go. However, if their ignorance helps against the fight against cancer, I'm all for it! :)

Show me some evidence that the pink one is legit... I don't see them at LAF.org

I don't think the pink band is a legitimate Livestrong band. I believe that the legitimate pink bands are specifically meant to support research on breast cancer which is being promoted by a different organisation than the LAF or Livestrong.

The pink one's from another foundation.
You'd think LAF is the only place creative enough to have those bands first but they're not.
If anyone's interested, I'm selling my "Die Now, Pro-Cancer" black wrist band.

Stop! You're competing with my "People for Mutations by Gamma Radiation" green wristbands!
Ill prolly get flamed hard for this one but...
I see a lot of people complaining others are wearing the bracelets even though they dont bike? Calling it a fad and such. To me its looking like its more of a biker fad and the biking community is angry that its spreading and is no longer unique to bikers (?). Just because livestrong is sponsorded by the lance armstrong foundation does that mean it should be unique to bikers? Maybe Im getting the wrong impression.
My take is it should be unique to people who want to help find a cure for cancer and help cancer patients deal with the stress and such. It should be more of a "hey whats that yellow bracelet for?" The wearer should be able to tell them about the foundation. People on this forum make it sound like..."Im a biker."
The original post was made about fakes. Ok...I wont support fakes because its for a foundation that supports a cause I think is good.
And yes...I have known a few cancer survivors. It was really scary not knowing if they were going to make it out ok. I (and they) was lucky and didnt have to lose someone I was close to. I have lost 1 pet to cancer and that was really bad. Dont want to know what it feels like to lose a friend. I think the statitics say 1 in 10 people you know (including yourself) will get cancer in your lifetime. Not a very favorable statistic.
If you really are interested in more of finding a cure for cancer check out Folding@Home (http://folding.stanford.edu/). No spy ware, doesnt slow your computer. It just uses otherwise unused clock cycles to fold and analyze protiens (used in research) which could help find cure for cancer or other diseases. Only down side is your power bill will go up slightly. I ran it on 8 PC's last year and it wasnt much of an increase.... If people are interested in starting a bikeforums team...go for it and Ill be willing to help answer questions and write tutorials about the program for people on different operating systems and processor types. No Im not affiliated with this program other than I run it on every PC I have. Lots of other ways to help out too. If you want more info or help with folding@home PM me and Ill do what I can.
Ill prolly get flamed hard for this one but...
Well, you won't get flamed by me as I've said much of the same thing in a previous post (http://www.bikeforums.net/showpost.php?p=648536&postcount=4).

You know, I really don't give a flying flip as to why anyone wears a Livestrong wristband. I wear one for my grad school roomie who died of leukemia many years ago. I wear it for my mom who had breast cancer. I wear it for a lot of people I know, some who have died from cancer, some who have lived with it. Anyone else wants to wear one, for whatever reason, that's their business.
What I do care about is the fact that literally millions of dollars have been raised for cancer research and for compassionate care of cancer patients by the sale of these little yellow rubber bands. Millions. At a dollar a pop. Let the faddists wear them. They are doing good whether they mean to or not.
I won't judge anyone for wearing one. It doesn't matter why they wear it.
I will, however judge..and judge harshly...the venal and avaricious scammers who hope to turn a buck by piggy-backing on the wristband's popularity. A thousand painful deaths and an eternity of torment are too good for them.

As long as the money is going to the LAF then I really don't give a crap why people are wearing them. If it's a fad, fine, atleast they are giving money to the foundation.
Personally I bought a few because a younger cousin passed away due to cancer two years ago. I don't usually wear them, just give them away and then go buy more.

The Rick Hendrick Foundation now has a wrist band that is blue to raise money to add more marrow donors for the National Bone Marrow Registry.

I do think many of us associate the yellow bands with cycling...They are favored by cycliists in the cycling community..After all, cancer research saved our star cyclists so he could go on the repeatedly win the tour de France.
But, I also had a cousin die of kidney cancer- so the Lance Armstrong Foundation has double meaning for me.

Really, cause it says so right here it's to raise money for breast cancer research and is headed by the Target company.

nice and clear (G)
It doesnt really matter who wears them. I wear mine because both my parents have it, my uncle died from it, as well as both my grandfathers and 1 grandmother. My dads brother has it as well as 2 of my aunts. Cancer runs rampant in my family and from what the doc says, its just a matter of time before I get it. So I dont think it really matters who wears the band... people who ride or people who hate riding.

That is such a blatantly obvious Photoshop. It looks like they took a photo off a website and ran it through a slightly transparent gradient layer. It's embarassing that people not only bid for it, but thought about bidding for it.
