...to a store with glass windows I saw a guy let his cute puppy piss on the wheel of my trailer. I wanted to confront him but I didn't want to shout at him. I wanted to put a u-lock shaped hole in his skull. I decided that would be a mistake, so I waited until his dog finished and he moved on before I left the store.

Should I have spit in his face? I would have but it didn't come to mind at the time. I could only think of crushing his skull.

What was the quote from Sonny Barger from Gimme Shelter when he explains what happens to a Hell's Angel when he sees someone messing with his bike?

Warning: Don't F*** with my bike. Next time I may react differently. I've got very little to lose.

I have come to the conclusion that there are way more inconsiderate, clueless types out than I have time to deal with, unless I want to go on blood pressure medication. Case in point, I was starting a ride yesterday and they was this walrus looking guy, with his family who was clearly lost. I had an idea of what he was looking for and asked if he knew the house number he was looking for. The guy snapped: "why are you asking" and instead of responding in kind (as was my first reaction) I simply said "you looked lost and I was offering help, if you are looking for 1200 block it is past lincoln ave" I left and realized I wasn't irritated about this on my ride and could feel like i was the better person.

In your case, you could have casually walked out and noted that this was a very uncool move, but you would hose the bike off when you got home basically embarassing the offender with nice.
..... easier said than done, so what you did was probablly best.

I'd have walked up and pissed on his leg.

Some people are such worthless sacks of poo.

geez.

Lot's of people are just space cadets since their mind is "out there" with the events of the day. I'll be this guy didn't even know where his dog was peeing all he knew was the dog stopped to pee.

If that is the worst thing that happens to you while making deliveries then count yourself lucky and squirt some water on it from your water bottle. No big deal.

I would most likely just sighed and ignored it, but in my mind, I would have walked outside with a HOT cup of coffee, slipped and spilled it's contents on the dog and the owner, then offered to rinse them off with piss :D

Still, it is better to just leave these dolts alone, but really, I do like the idea of a u-lock sized hole in his head

I've been run over by a car. That hurt less than this did. Haha

Well it was only my elbow that went under the wheel.

When I got run into by a car, that hurt worse.

Sigh and ignore. Yeah, that's what I did, but I figured at least I could whine about it here. It's a funny story. I was really incensed at the time though.

The guy should have gotten at least a dirty glare from you before he could escape. Let him know you saw what he did so maybe he won't let it happen again. The dog, however, was completely clueless as I'm sure you know. I'm betting your wheel already smelled of urine which is why the dog peed on it. You may want to wash it with a Nature's Miracle or Get Serious! type product if you're worried about other dogs peeing on your wheels.

I'm convinced most people are inconsiderate a**sholes, so this guy's actions don't surprise me. I bet he doesn't pick up after his dog, either.

I think you did the right thing. Still, it's gotta hurt. People can be such jerks. That's why I hate people.

The wheel of your trailer comes into contact with things much worse than puppy urine every single time you use it. That's a fact not an opinion.

If this simple incident is enough to move you to violence I think a little piss on your tire is the least of your worries.

Thanks for passing judgement, Nigal. How would you have handled the situation differently?

Jamesw2

What yo do is engage the person in conversation while taking a stick and rolling it in the dog urine then rubbing the stick on the guys pant leg.
Result is the next dog will urinate on the guys leg.

The reason the dog may have urinated on the bike is because you had the odor of dog on the tire from something you ran over in the road. Dead animal or feces. It doesn't take much. Maybe something on the sidewalk.

When all else fails! Read the instructions

I would have simply told him to keep his dog away from my bike. We are, by and large, a shameless society any more so I have lowered my expectations of getting satisfaction from others. It's hardly an ass kicking offense though.

It being "hardly an ass kicking offense" is, by and large, WHY we are shameless society.

So.......... If I stand there and piss all over your shoes, it would be just peachy with you then, as I'm sure, by your logic, your shoes have stepped in much worse things.....? :D

So if he had the balls to kick his ass over it, then it'd be justified violence?

I didn't kick his ass because I lacked the balls, while you wouldn't have because you're righteous? OK, got it.

I'm out of this thread. I'm on probation.

Yes, I have anger management issues.

Piss off, Nigal.

Justified violence? Absolutely not.

It would be required violence.

Anyone not willing to contribute to the maintenance of a decent society doesn't deserve to live in one. In any decent society, the trash always has to be taken out by someone. Otherwise, it quickly ceases to be a decent society.

Some people shoulder their responsibility and do what needs to be done. They are the good samaritans.

Some people pay others to take care of their base responsibilities. They are the spoiled wealthy and/or the common taxpayers.

Some people get paid to take care of other peoples problems. They are the police and the military.

Some people astonishingly think that if you pretend that the trash littering the streets isn't there, then it's still some kind of shangri la paradise. They are the delusional fools and/or peacenik hippies.

I'm more in the semi-wealthy taxpayer category... I tend to be ashamed that I don't take a more active role personally. I try to convince myself that it's not my job, that's what the police are for. But I know better. At least I know enough to be ashamed of myself. What's your excuse?

I don't know enough to be ashamed? Ashamed of what?

So if this incident would "require violence" you must run into a lot of instances where "violence is required", yes? Exactly how many times have you dispensed your street justice in the last year?

LOL! Dude you hid in the store so you wouldn't even have to confront him. Then you come here and you're talking **** like "he's lucky I didn't put a hole in his skull!"
Would I have kicked his ass? Of course not. Is this from some piousness? No, it's because I'm a reasonable person and realize;

1) It wouldn't have achieved anything. What? When I'm done beating him down he'll take a hanky and spit shine my tire?
2) Kicking someone's ass in a situation where I am not defending myself from attack is against the law. I would be arrested and carted off to jail.
3) I am not Bruce Lee and I have enough self esteem to admit I am not the toughest guy in the world. If I run around settling the world's hash sooner or later I'll run into someone meaner than me or someone with a knife or a gun.
4) I am not the center of the universe nor the most important person in the world. It is a tire with piss on it. If a pissy tire is the worst thing I face in my day then I am truly blessed.

If it had happened here, I coulda caved the dog walker's head in with this rock, took his puppy home and made Chinese food out of it. :)

A lot of good suggestions have been posted. I've never had much luck with verbal confrontations, I'm usually left feeling even worse afterwards, so this time I didn't bother.

I started this thread to vent a little. I wanted to kill the mother****er but I didn't for the obvious reasons Nigal so obtusely references above. and of course because it would be horribly wrong and I would regret for the rest of my life.

The dog was just marking it's territory and probably figured a mobile marker would give him some extra street cred... the guy who let the dog piss on your vehicle deserved some correction although bashing a hole in skull would have been excessive.

Our shop manager caught a guy pissing all over the bike rack and his bike one evening... he is a bigger guy and took some issue with this but the pisser got away with a little shove and a get the f out of here. Despite being rather burly our manager is an easy going guy with very little experience when it comes to violent behaviour.

When he told me what happened I told him I would have made the guy lick the bike clean and at the very least... would have offered a choice between cleaning stuff up or talking to cops. If you gotta go you gotta go but pissing on someone's bike is disgusting.

My problem is that I am not very big and am not very intimidating and also have no problem telling people off who have then often wanted to and have attempted to kick my ass.

Yeah, you know I never actually thought I would or should crack his skull that's just what I wanted to do, just in my head I guess. Of course I'm not going to kill a guy who doesn't know how to control his puppy. It probably ****s on his rugs. My bike was in the way of a popular streetlight. I should have apologized to the dog.

What's up with people pissing on bikes?

Many years ago, a friend saw his bike wasn't where he left it, wheel locked to frame. Panicked but knowing it couldn't have been ridden away, he ran into the nearest alley. He found a guy pissing on his bike. At least he found his bike, he was happy, but what's up with people pissing on bikes!?

I have no idea... it is much like the weekend crowds on the strips and every Monday and Tuesday we have people coming in to the shop because someone kicked out their spokes after they had left them locked up outside establishments. I like to frequent an old blues club and just leave my bike at the shop and walk the 3-4 blocks (even though I hate walking) so I don;t have to worry about my ride home.

And then there are the folks who like to go and smash glass all over the sidewalk and multi use paths... and honestly... if I catch someone doing this I will make them pick up every damn sliver.

If they don't want to pick it up... they will be licking it up.

It poses a safety hazard to cyclists and dog walkers and a trip to the vet to have glass removed from a paw will set you back a few hundred if you can't get it out yourself.

Put it under the WTF is wrong with people ?

If I had been caught doing this as a kid my father would have beaten me until his arms were tired... and I knew better.

I rather like this line of thinking, but save the violence for those who actually intend to do you real harm.

Maybe a good talking to and a squirt to the groin with a waterbottle so it looks like he peed his pants.

Fair enough. FWIW, I agree in practice. But in principle, those that would casually destroy other peoples' property DO cause real harm... they cause real harm to everyone as now we ALL have to live like we're in the third world country. Putting an end to their behavior makes the neighborhood a better place for everyone.

Is violence deserved? Absolutely. Am I going to be the one dishing it out? No, because I don't feel like dealing with the red tape, BS and hassle that comes with it. But it's still absolutely deserved.
