Hi! I just purchased a TerraTrike Cruiser recumbent over the weekend and am very happy to be back into cycling after 12 years. Due to nerve damage in my arms I had to give up riding my road bike and also couldn't mountain bike anymore. The recumbent has allowed me to ride again! It won't be fast but it's great. Downhills are a blast.
I'll be commuting in very hilly terrain so I'm starting out slow to get back into shape. At 48 the old(er) muscles are taking a bit more to get going but it feels good to use them. I think anyone could walk faster than I'm peddling up the hills. I'm also at dog-in-face level, which was interesting when the neighbor's doberman came bounding out to see me.
I think I have to purchase a helmet upgrade as well. The old Bell vintage 1984 is more than a bit outdated in safety, I think!
