General Cycling Discussion - "Well its flooding down in Texas..."

and I'm getting tired of roller rides.
Suns out now, 75 degrees, 100% humidity
and I'm stuck at work....AAARGHHH.

And it's so dry here I'm thinking of carring wash water to the garden. Really 100% humidity sounds awlful. I thought north Texas was dry?

i can relate, having moved from austin. i feel for ya bud!
year round riding, HA! i remember being on the trainer in August with 110F and 99% humidity and an air pollution alert. winter in the midwest is not so bad after all...

have fun at the RftR though. gonna race the crit the night before? whooohooo. watching the pros go afterwards is big fun. :)

They cancelled the Downtown Criterium, it costs too much to
put on and the whole reason for the ride is to generate money.
(story on LAF and testicular cancer on news this am).
I can deal with the heat, and rain but the
storms this past w/e dumped something like 3.6 inches
of rain and had great gusting wind. given propensity for
severe storms I'd rather ride the rollers than end up in OZ
(no NOT Australia :lol: )

Joe, Texas is pretty humid, more so down towards
the coast. I used to think the same about Texas
then I moved here. I lived in Northern Va for 16 years
so the humidity here is not a problem!

All i got is heat and humidity. lotek you missed the riding season it's time to get in and get ON the rollers. Remember april showers bla, bla, bla. Well it's actually Arpil, May, June... you get the ideal:)

Sorry to hear about the demise of the Crit. I always thought it was a cool way to expose the non-cycling masses to bicycle racing. Night time crits under the lights are always a good spectator event.

Have fun on the ride and don't forget to eat plenty of tex-mex, drink plenty of Shiner and ride by the SRV statue on Town Lake.

Spoke with a friend in Austin this morning and she said it was sunny and 60's. I'll cross my fingers for y'all for the weekend.

Actually, I play guitar [sort of like what SRV would sound like if he had one finger on his left hand] and Texas Flood is one of my fave blues tunes [along with Help me, Mannish Boy, Farther on Up the Road... well, you get the picture]. Seems strangely appropriate considering today's weather. Guess I'll get out to the garage and clean a bike or something...

well thats the problem, I go down to 6th, eat Lots of tex-mex,
drink lotsa Shiner and then can't ride past anything :lol:
Of course I do find that Frijoles make great preride food
(thats refried beans for all you gringos) but is
messy in a jersey pocket. :roflmao:

wow i always thought it was after the 150

I actually like warm humid weather, and it does sound appetizing after the cold early-spring weather we've had. But I thought gee, I'd rather have snow than torrential floods like they've had in Kentucky and TEnnessee. You can shovel snow, it doesn't destroy your house, etc. And now most of it has gone- finally we've gotten some milder weather and it's melted. The downside, it's raining. But it's finally going to get warm and sunny and I'm going to go for my first real rde!


Hey, maybe they should have the ride for the Roses here. The forecast for Sunday is 60 degrees and sunny!

So all this talk about the Roses and the MS150, what about the best ride of all .... ShinerBASH?
