I will be starting the Underground Railroad adventure in a few weeks from Mobile. I am looking for recommendations for a bicycle store that I can ship my bicyce to and have it re-assembled. The ACA map has four bike stores listed in Mobile: Pathworks Bicycles, Cadence 120 Bicycle Works, Bicycles of Mobile, and Spoke N Trail. Has anyone used any of these bike stores to assemble their bike. Any thoughts/recommendations? Sorry for any double post. Thanks

I don't have any personal experience with any of those shops (I live on the opposite end of Alabama), but I have heard good things about Cadence 120 from other riders. We have been riding with several groups from down south and the ones that use Cadence, speak highly of them. Their number is 251-344-7435.

Good luck!

I live in Mobile and have been to both Cadence and Spoke and Trail during my search for a bike. My son is an avid cyclist, and he likes both shops but is planning to get some work done at Spoke and Trail--prices were similar, but S&T seemed a little more on the ball. Of course, it may simply have been the person we spoke with for each shop. S&T is more than a bicycle shop, offering gear for all sorts of sports, whereas Cadence is simply cycling. If it is of any interest, Cadence is right by the University of South Alabama (if you use this shop, try out Los Arcos, a Mexican restaurant, when you pick up your bike), and S&T is located by the interstate further into town. I realize this is probably not information you're looking for, so I'll send my son a note and ask him to post with more technical information.
