I was told that I can do a straight swap with the chorus cranks for the dura ace ones. Is this true? How easy (or hard) is it really to do this?

I've heard that this was a relatively popular mod?
very easy.
Buy DA cranks.
remove flexy wet noodle Chorus cranks
remove flexy old hat chorus square taper BB
face BB shell
fit DA BB cups
Fit DA cranks
refit chain
Ride bike and be amazed how much stiffer the new crank is..
I use a FSA Team Issue Carbon Pro 9s octalink with my Record drivetrain. Works better than the record crank it replaced!!

the thing you gota be careful with is the cap...just don't over tighten it when you put it on!
I saw a photo a guy in the magazine 'Ride Cycling Review' in Australia with that modification. Cant say I like the look of it.
"I use a 10-speed group. Its got the push-sideways lever and the little button on the inside... "I just put the Shimano Dura-Ace cranks on later beacuae I reckon they look alright" Is what he said.

That easy huh? Is it so much stiffer that I will notice it?
That easy huh? Is it so much stiffer that I will notice it?Spend that much money and you will HAVE to notice it.I woouldn't waste my money on that concept, but YMMV.

Wait, can i use my campy front derailleur with the dura ace cranks? And my record 10 speed chain?

The chain and derailer will will just the same. You have to keep using the campy chain because of the rear cassette. Consider looking into FSA's mega exo crank/bb. It is lighter, less money, and just as stiff as shimano.

Does it use the ISIS bb?

Also where did you see that it was stiffer than dura ace? I see it is about 100 grams lighter with bb included.

Hey trevorsg, I've been trying to find a retail price on those new FSA crank/BB setups to no avail. Any ideas?
