Fifty Plus (50+) - Planning a summer cycling vacation

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've enjoyed other friends' photo reports of bike holidays, and I hope to offer up some reports and pics of the thing I've just booked
Vienna to Budapest, alongside the Danube but with some hilly detours. 6 Days @ maybe 60 miles pd
A few months before we take off - it'll be late August. Yipee
Using rented bikes, which simplifies transport - Trek FX 7.3. Spouse love the 7.5 she's used here, and I find it hard to keep up with her, so that should be just fine.
I can't wait

Sounds great, I would love to do something like that some day. Don't forget to post the pics with descriptions.

WOG: Why not set up a blog and give daily updates/reports? Just an idea....

Bump. No pictures yet - I'm just back from the airport, and the camera needs to be re-charged.
A great trip. Highlights - watching the Olympic bike race rehearsal in London (Cavendish won!), using bikes to take a little day trip from a great pub/hotel in Suffolk UK, and riding alongside the Danube for a week in VERY HOT weather - and that's coming from a Middle East resident!
Many great things about the trip, and I fully intend to add photos and short descriptions - but one of the most impressive things was how bicycling is treated in Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, as a welcome and primary part of road usage.
