Hi all

Im wanting to get out racing again this summer, have not raced since I was 15 (24 now). Back in the day I did fairly well advancing into the amateur ranks at my local NBL track but I would like to start racing cruisers. I am looking into purchasing a new 24", does anyone have any suggestions as to what is a solid entry level bike? I was looking seriously at the Redline MX 24, and the GT mach one 24. Also does anyone know how the classes for cruisers break down at NBL tracks? If I recall correctly they go simply by age not by skill level as with the 20" classes. Any help would be great!

You're right about the cruiser class system, at least that's how the ABA works. And after looking at both bikes, the GT has better components but the Redline's frame is aluminum and better than the GT's hi-tensile frame.

Thanks minichamp, i was leaning toward the gt just for the price, for just under 300 bones i dont really think i could do any better (im going bash on it for atleast a year anyway). But the high tensil frame did kind of bum me out, it seems steel has replaced use of chromoly in the more budget based bikes. The first bike I raced (and still ahve) was a 96 mach one so a new cruiser mach one would be cool to have.

Hi-tensile steel is used in lower end bikes, but it seems all the other components are chromoly, whereas the Redline has the better frame but cheaper parts. I would look into the DK Sentry as well, it seems to be a little more balanced in each aspect, with the aluminum frame and chromoly parts for about the same price.
