Fifty Plus (50+) - Rode with a fellow BF member today!!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Part way into work this afternoon I spied a familiar fellow riding towards me. It was Gyro, a fellow BF poster.

It was so good to see him again. He did a quick mental destination-route-reevaluation thingy and turned around allowing us to ride together and visit for a spell. The miles seemd to just melt away as we got caught up with each others events of the past several months.

Eventually I turned into the lot at my job and he had to continue riding his bike (poor guy). We discussed our options for some rides together this coming summer which just make me more anxious for summer to get here.

Come on....summer!!!

Lenny,

Sounds like a good day.

Do you and TSL get an opportunity to ride together?

cyclinfool,

We're on opposite sides of the city. Besides, I doubt if I could catch him. He'ld have to throw me a tow-rope just to keep me within shouting distance. :D

I've had the pleasure of riding with a couple of non-local BF 50+ers on different occasions. Great rides!

We're on opposite sides of the city.

Yeah, he's in the extreme northwest and I'm in the southeast. Doesn't stop me from checking every 'bent rider I see. And I don't get out to Cranky's neighborhood until after it warms up a bit (if ever) and I need a cooling ride along the Great Moistness that is the lake.

Although I was out in another part of the same suburb today visiting Mom on Mom's Day. Did not like cycling into that cold wind off the lake. My front was chilled and my back was sweating in the sun. I really wanted to be in the hills of horse country further south and east. Oh well.

As for speed, you'd be amazed at how slow I can go for a ride partner. Two weeks ago Friday I did a whole afternoon working on a single-digit average with a friend just back on the bike after having both knees replaced this past winter. Lots of stops for resting too. Took us four hours to do two hours of riding at a 9.6 ride-time average.
