So it looks like my BB is going, or so I assume. About every 2nd full crank revolution I can feel a click/hitch in the BB. How long for this world do you think it is? I've ordered a replacement but wondering how I can keep riding on it until it NEEDS to be replaced and what adversely may happen if I ride too long on it?
Sorry for being a n00b.

How many miles on the BB and has it seen any rain? Also is it possible that your non-drive side crank is loose or that the cups are not tight in the frame?

I bought the bike used so I'm not sure. It's seen about 2500 miles from me, and probably anywhere from 2-10k miles from previous owner.
I suppose most anything is possible, I can check for tightness of the arm/cups.

The newer external BB's are not as durable as the original square taper cartridge types. I have replaced them for friends, but I don't know much milage they got from them.
You can ride it until the noise drives you to replace it without damaging the crank.axle.

You can pull them, pop off the seal, flush them out, lube and reinstall. Make sure you grease the shaft where it contacts the bearings before installation.
