I was considering taking the train to Philly, then pedaling up to Princeton. Is there a decent route to the towpath out there?

Thanks in advance.

What about taking the (NJ) River LINE from Camden to Trenton? And then having fun at D&R. And if you were planning on doing both NJ and PA sides.. Parts of PA are/were closed due to flooding and I don't know if they are re-opened.

I have a friend throwing a cookout in Princeton, so I have an actual goal: beer and sausages.

Looks like the routes on bikely etc. are all pretty similar. Anyone do this ride who could offer intel?

I don't think the D&R is in PA. While there is a canal path on the PA side, I don't think it's part of the D&R system:

I have a route I use routinely to get to/from New Hope, where you can cross the river to Lambertville to pick up the D&R. It actually starts out of town in Conshohocken. The start is easily reached from center city via streets and the Schuykill River Trail. It's on Bikely, but the sight seems to be down right now. Send me a PM and I can give you the link later.

Can't help you with a route from the D&R to Princeton.

Rats. The thing won't let me PM, but I'd certainly be interested in the New Hope route.

You probably don't have enough posts to be able to send PMs.

The start of this route is at the Spring Mill station of the Norristown line. I can also give you riding directions.

Very cool. I assume I can take the Schuykill River trail to the start point? Thanks for the tip.

Yes. The SRT crosses the southern terminus of the route to New Hope. From the Art Museum, take the Kelly Drive to the Falls Bridge. You can also take the MLK Drive side toi the Falls Bridge. MLK is closed to cars weekends between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. (The continuation of the path to Ridge is being reconstructed at the moment. Don't know when it will re-open.) If on the Kelly path, make a right at the light (if on the MLK side, cross the bridge and ride straight) and a left at the T (at the gas station) onto Ridge Ave. When Ridge begins to climb, bear left onto Main St. Take that until it ends and make a right onto Leverington. Next left onto Umbria. Hairpin turn onto Shawmont, right at the T onto Nixon and then bear right up the small hill to the trail. Turn right at the entrance to the Spring Mill station and you will be on route.
