Introductions - Hello from the Atlanta 'burbs!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm a 35 yr. old mother of 2 (3yr. old girl and 1yr. old boy). I was really into bicycling when I was in college but, once I graduated I became distracted w/ other things. Last year after my son was born I decided to start riding again to get back into shape and get a break from the kids. I bought a used Terry Symmetry 6 months ago and I ride about 3x a week, 10-30 miles a ride sometimes w/ the kids in a trailer. My goal is to ride a century (hopefully by next summer). I love bicycling and it has been a perfect way to get a break from my kids, even if they are behind me in the trailer!

Well, I live in south Gwinnett. If I am taking my kids in the trailer, I ride at Stone Mtn. or the SCT. If I'm riding w/o the kids I have a 15 mile route from my house or a 20 mile loop in the Grayson area.

I have friends in Grayson - care to post your route? I usually do the SCT, and I should be working the hills at Stome Mountain too, but I'm always looking for new (ie. safe) road rides.

I got the Grayson route off of the Gwinnett Touring Club website. I've never joined or ridden w/ them but, they are nice enough to have route maps on their website:

It's the ride starting from Grayson High School.
Welcome to BikeForums. :)

I have a triathlete friend (Hi John - also a member of BF) who lives in Grayson. He invited me to ride with him once and I was looking forward to riding a few quiet backroads in the Grayson area. He took me on his training ride route --- the bike lanes on the Sugarloaf Parkway. What a surprise.
Next time I'm at Stone Mtn (weekends only) I'll look for a young lady hauling a couple of kids in a trailer and say hello. :)
