Hi All- I am the race director for the North Shore Bike Tour which takes place on May 22, 2011 on the North Fork of long island in New York. 100% of proceeds from this ride go to the New York Organ Donor Network to help raise awareness for the need for registered organ donors. New York state has one of the lowest amount of registered donors in the entire country with approximately 13% of all licensed drivers registered to be organ donors.
This ride is in its second year and is hoping to have over 300 riders! We started it last year because my father, an avid cyclist, received a heart transplant and was looking for a way to use cycling to raise awareness. For more information about the ride or to register please go to: http://www.active.com/cycling/peconic-ny/north-shore-bike-tour-2011?int=29-6
