But I loved the commute. Normally I don't like the wind but today I really enjoyed it. Guess I just never know

Yea. Much higher. The flag shot you have? Imagine the flag looking like it was starched. Peak wind speed at my work location last night was 50 mph right at quitting time. Sustained wind speed at the same time was 25 mph. I go the right direction (east) so mine was a tailwind:thumb: It's wonderful to coast at 30 mph:D
That speed isn't the worst we've had this year, however. The power lines weren't humming. They start doing that at around 70 mph:eek:

looks like typical Kansas breeze to me. how "Mrs. Beans" is leaning into the wind is pretty much how i have to ride.
what kind of road is that you guys are on? one of the fabled bike lanes/paths i hear about?

Thanks! Yup, a bike trail we frequent is Santa Ana River Trail. I read lots of comments on the forums about over crowded trails etc. Our trail isn't not that bad. Can be a little crowded in some short sections (parks etc) but the trial is 30 miles one wy and 60 roundtrip. There are sections where we may not see another rider for 10 miles. In the late afternoon, we may go 20 while only spotting 5 other riders.
The descent video is on Glendora Mountain Rd. 20 mile climb to Baldy Village. 42 roundtrip with 5,000 ft of climbing. 10 years ago we could do this 42 mile ride with only seeing 3 other riders. Now cycling is more popular so we see 10 in the first 8 miles. The section section of 13 miles is usually not as crowded, might see 4 other riders.
I am Fred in the video. Another camera shy rider snatched the recorder from my hand and got a shot of me. I have the flour green jersey, the light blue, and yellow. I picked them up couple months back. I paid $19 then a month later the $9 special came out.:mad:
I have about 150 videos on youtube. Many of the trail and the mountain ride (GMR). Many times I figure I won't shoot a video but then we run into othe riders we know or meet. Lots of forum members. On the trail, we may encounter 200 riders on a 45 miler.

Our wind was 45. We get them fairly often during the season along with several wind advisories. During this season, several big rigs will flip on local freeways. We get wind at 65 mph. A consistent 30 isn't unusual.
Matter of fact, we did a ride through the mountains with 45 winds with gust at 65. One rider was blown over and knocked unconscious.:eek:
You might not have seen it in my other videos but there is a flag that is about 30 yards long that is straight out when the wind is high. When it's out, we know it's windy. On these days, we could easliy hold 30 to the coast. But it's senseless when you know you have to head back. We encounter a bunch of these riders. Funny though when you are heading back and they are on the side of the road puking or in tears.:D
FTR, I just looked up an average wind table based over several years. It seems Denver is about 1 mph higher average than Los Angeles. ;)
