Today was pretty cool. Gina's car is leaking oil so I took it to the shop for her (mech says more than likely oil pressure switch, cheap fix). She took my truck to work so I timed the trip to the shop so that she could pick me up on her way home. I had to leave the car.

Perfect timing, I called her when I was done. She said she was just about to leave and would pick me up at a Church's Chicken about 1/8 of a mile from the shop. I reached the rendezvous point and just kept walking. Heck, just saved a couple of bucks on a piece of chicken and a drink I didn't really need.

So I'm walking, pull out my phone to inform her I'm on the road Man! I figure I can walk towards the fwy to save her from having to drive across town. After I warm up, I lift the pace. Dang I was feeling good!

New rendezvous point, I just passed it! So I call again hoping I don't get stopped for walking and talking on the cell.:D Heck man, I was flying. I even passed 3 separate scary homeless people, one with a shopping cart. I was walking so fast I think I scared them. I could tell by the shocked "WhereTF did you come from" looks on their faces!:roflmao2:

I made it all the way to the fwy exit where Gina would exit. I made it to the rendezvous 3 minutes before she go there. Then I got to stand there and watch her at the signal with a "wtf took you so long?" look on my face.:D

5 miles of exercise, a PB in walking, saved money on a piece of chicken and a drink, saved on gas and get to talk trash about how long I had to wait at the rendezvous point, 3 mintues.:p

This post means absolutely nuthin' other than life is sweet when you are willing to walk across town for funzies.:thumb:

Lol, that does sound like fun. But, it also shows how you can find exercise in ways that you might not normally.

Oh thats great, I love that kind of exercise when you least expect it. Think of all that good it does to your leg muscles when you get on your bike next time.
Good day!

I think walking is better than a recovery ride for the simple reason
that my recovery rides get.... well let's just say the emphasis on recovery tends to fade.

If you liked that, you'd love hiking.

Oh the leg muscles were feeling good. Nice recovery. My legs were tight from weekend rides but this really loosened them up. We used to hike couple times a week. But when the time changed, we lost daylight so we stopped. On the weekends, we do long rides rather than hike. But we really do need to get back at it!
