Hi all....
An old neighbour of mine is selling two bikes that he bought new in 1993.
He is not badly off, and bought them on a whim because he thought they were beautiful.
They are both completely unused.

Spec on both bikes...

1. Basso Astra with with full Dura Ace groupset (except for Campag Delta brake calipers)
It has a a Columbus EL frame.

2. Joe Waugh "Gold Medal". It has a Campag Chorus groupset except for "Hope" hubs and a Royce titanium bottom bracket.
It has a Reynolds 653 frame.

He is a bit old fashioned and refuses to advertise the bikes on e-bay etc, and wants to sell them to someone that would look after and appreciate them.....me:)

What would be a good price to pay for each of these bikes?

Thanks in advance for any help

All the best.

Dave.

Pics are really helpful/necessary to determine value.

$1000 for the first bike due to the well known brand name, Dura Ace parts and Delta brakes.
$300 for the second due to a much less known name and run of the mill no collectible value Chorus components.

For more accurate pricing hi-resolution pics would be needed.

perhaps a bit less for the basso and a bit more for the waugh. i would say....700.00 and 500.00 i see alot of nos bassos on ebay and they dont go anwhere in price. 653 tube set is very nice by the way...top of the line in its day...its a combo of 753 and some other tubes that make for a great ride. merkx picked that out for some stages of the tdf....at least thats what i read.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Sorry i have taken so long to reply, been out of internet range for a while.
I'll get some photos up once i get to work and a decent connection.

I did buy the bikes by the way. Equivalent of 650 USD each
Sounds like i probably paid too much the the Joe Waugh but it's is a lovely unused bike which has some nice hand painted details etc.
Maybe what i lost on that one i made up for with the Basso.

Sorry if i mislead anyone, but i'm not a collector and bought them to use.

All the best.

Dave.
