Classic & Vintage - Brooks Team Pro not as wide as published?

I bought a Team Pro to try out from Wallbike. I installed it, and of course had to change the seatpost to a major setback version. Fine. While riding, I noticed the saddle felt thinner than my Alias 143. But the specs say it's 155 wide. So I measured the actual sit area (between the rivits). Check it out (sorry for the lame phone photo):

Looks to be only about 110-120mm in actual room to sit, right? Maybe that's why I can't get comfy?

Or maybe you just don't have a Brooks Booty? Some riders never find them comfortable.

You don't mention what kind of bike it is mounted to, or whether your riding style is more upright, aggressive, etc. A Professional is designed for road bike.

Since you bought from Wall Bike, return it and try a B17.

The width of the Team Pro is measured from end to end, I don't know what Specialized is using the measure theirs.

My booty is fine on the Brooks, it's relatively comfy, except for the rivits~!

I have it on my Cinelli Experience, and I run a 2" bar drop, so my position is semi-agressive I would say. Still, Specialized measures from end to end, but the Alias/Toupes are relatively flat in the back, so you actually have the room specified in the size. The center of the Brooks is narrower than 120, so my soft tissue is doing a lot of the supporting work - not good!

I've never actually noticed the rivets riding on a Brooks. My butt feels best on Brooks, and I have a particular affinity for the B-17. I am a bit surprised because I've been riding a swallow the past week, and it's really growing on me. I traditionally have not done well with narrow racing saddles, and the swallow was hurting the first few rides, but yesterday I rode it and was in heaven. Granted, it wasn't a very long ride...maybe 15 miles.

Love the B17, for me the Team Pro is an *ss hatchet.

If you bars are close to the level of the saddle, the B17 is often a good choice.

If they are lower than the saddle, you might need to look elsewhere.

Or you can just slightly angle the B-17. I only have one bike where the saddle and bars are close...and the B-17 works just fine.

Also, my understanding is that the B-17 and Pro have very similar profiles (they certainly don't seem too different to me riding them or eye balling them)...the difference being the leather thickness and lack of holes. I'm wondering if your issue was just that you didn't give the Team Pro enough time to break in...they do take longer.
