I stripped the thread of a nice set of cranks the other day.

Today I went to remove some stronglight 107's and I made extra sure the puller was far in and straight. Stripped the thread. Just lost ~100 euros worth of ebay sales.:crash:

Just a warning to keep a close eye on your crank tools because it seems mine is worn out.

From what I have heard (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php/293488-Question-re-stronglight-crank-puller)a 23mm crank puller may strip out a 23.35 mm older Stronglight crank if it is worn out or not

I don't know; I haven't seen your puller, but I don't think I'd throw it out quite yet. How exactly would the threads wear out on the puller? Isn't it steel, and threading into alloy? Anyway sorry about your crankset(s). If you mount them on a cartridge BB you won't need to worry about pulling them again for a good long time. Makes selling it more difficult, though, for sure.

Crank pullers do wear out and I have a worn out Stronglight crank puller for sale - really cheap. Of course, it will screw up your threads.

Nice to know it was the crankpuller that wore out. I have a spare somewhere, along with two 23mm, and two 23.5mm. just wish I had thrown it out after the first crank

Were you using a real, Stronglight puller (23.35mm x 1.0mm) or a TA type puller (23.0mm x 1.0mm)?

A TA puller will appear to thread in properly but will strip the threads on the arm when pressure is applied.
