Check this out. Don't know when I'll see a number like that again, so I took a photo of it for proof! I know the top speed number is wonky, that happens just about every time I ride these roads for some reason.

Rode the L'Etape du California last Saturday. I've been training for a couple months, and put on a 12-36 cassette for this ride. I am so glad I did. Don't know if I would have finished without the mega granny gear. The last few miles up to the ski lifts was tough. It would be a challenge by itself, even if it wasn't the last few miles of a 75 mile ride.
The ride was advertised as 75 miles, 10,500 ft of climbing. My Garmin showed more, and it didn't change much when I uploaded to GC and used elevation correction. Ended up with about 90 miles total after riding back down to the start.
I was going to take some photos on the ride, but after a couple hours I didn't want to mess with it. I tried to keep the time at the rest stops to a minimum, just refill the bottles, grab some snacks, and keep going.
Total time was 7:45, hardest thing I've ever done. And not just on a bike.
Here's a picture when I pre-rode portions of the course.

Saw Bill Walton (ex-NBA player) riding up Mt Baldy Rd. It was a fun, painful day. Glad I did it, now time to find the next challenge.
