I have a spare 6600 HTII BB lying around and would like to use it with an FSA Gossamer Megaexo crank. According to the specs the Megaexo 6000 and HTII are both 24mm spindle and should be compatible. Is anyone running this combination?

My bike came with a FSA SL-K crankset and Shimano BB. The combo worked fine. The NDS crank arm worked loose after 250 miles (as these were known to do) and the shop upgraded the crankset to Ultegra.

That is the combo I have on my touring bike. It works fine.

Don't use a Gossamer Crank they do not shift nearly as well as a Shimano. The FSA carbon light are fine but the standard Gossamer's are rotten. You can get an Ultegra Crank 6600 for less than $150 and way better much smooth precise shifting.

That is what I really want but I can't find a compact 6600 anywhere for that price.

I did find an SRAM Apex crankset for $114 and now I'm thinking about going with that.

Get the 6600 off ebay. Even new ones sell for around $100. Ugly ones sell for $40-60.

It's not the crank itself that sucks. It's the old, non 'N10' stamped chainrings that suck. Even then, it won't perform as well as the matched shimano crank.

The only reason FSA is spec'ed is for pricepoint. People buying FSA products aftermarket are morons.

Well I found a brand new 5600 compact crank at ribble for $95 so will be buying that instead of my using the FSA Gossamer I have.

Yeah, I should have said 'the bottom bracket/crank interface works fine.' The shifting on the FSA chainrings sucks poop.
