It seems that my stokers HRM is picking up my chest-strap in addition to hers. This isn't very surprising since I'm so close to her unit. Has anyone successfully shielded a stoker computer from the captain? Or am I going to have to wear a tin-foil jersey?

Have the same problem, and the only thing to do is get the Polar monitors, two of them, that have the coded starp to monitor. That is unless someone has actually found a cure to this problem

We had that problem until we got a longer tandem. Going from 30" to 38" fixed it. Before that she could put her hand behind her back to get her own heart rate. It seems the HRMs that do not have the coded signals sort for the highest number they can find, which is why she would get my HR (men run about 10 bpm higher than women), and why powerlines run at 200-220 bpm. The good news, of course, is that she did know just how hard I go.

Actually, you only need one of Polar's coded units. I have a Ciclosport HRM that is not coded and Debbie uses one of Polar's coded units and we have never had any problems with crosstalk.

One of you could also get a Timex watch. Timex is digital, and has absolutely no cross talk with an analog watch. Even two Timex watches put together are less likely to cross talk than two analogs. But it seems like you would just need one Timex in this case.

Don't get all crazy with all the digital doodads with Timex either. Get the basic watch, because they have a lot of bugs in their stuff, and I haven't been impressed with that either. You may really regret paying a lot of money for stuff you can't use after two months and can't return because of their limited warranty.
