I need two 8 speed chains..one for a Dura Ace group and the other for a Campy Chorus group. What do you recommend?

Alex, I'm running SRAM middle level on both of mine, one 8-sp Shimano, one 8-sp Campy, and they're both fine.

I like SRAM chains, just received and order from Niagara that included two SRAM PC-830 8 speed chains for $13.00 each, shipping will bump up the price per though. Picked up the same chain an an LBS in January for around $27.

Thanks RT, atm. LBS was pushing group-specific chains at a very high cost (and 11sp chains, to boot). They were offering me two chains at the super sweet price of $92. (insert facepalm)

Though I've not put enough miles on to add my own first-hand experience, I've read good reviews of the Nashbar branded 7-8 speed chains. These are in the sub-$10 range, IIRC. (BTW, I don't have a 7 or 8 speed, I use these chains on my Ultra-6's, for which they are recommended)

I'm a real fan of the KMC X-series chains. There's an 8-speed width version, IIRC.

I'm using SRAM PC-830 or 850 and also the KMC-X series and haven't had any problems with any of them.

Add my vote for SRAM. The PC-870 is very nice but nearly 2x the price of the PC-830. Both include 'Power Link'.

The LBS tried to sell you 11 speed chains for your 8 speeds?

I'm liking the Sram PC-870. I've got on my 7 and 8 speeds and it works great.

SRAM PC-830 works great for me.

Hmm, I might try the SRAM PC-870 if there's cash for a "premium" chain, next time I need one. It seems to be getting lots of votes in this thread.

I run SRAM PC870 chains on most all of my bikes, works great.
