Road bikers sometimes listen to music .... I listen to lincoln park... it has a great pedal cadence and it raises the pain threshold with its blues like ideology :)

I'm inclined to suggest Squarepusher. Something about that guy's rhythms always lead to a mental association with riding for me.

It kind of depends, if Im hammering out intervals I like to listen to stuff like more punk stuff like Less Than Jake, Social Distortion, Dropkick Murphys. If I am out for a few hours doing distance I kind of prefer to listen to some more chill stuff like DMB, Ben Harper, or Dispatch. I've also been listening to Paul's Boutiqe and Check Your Head. Oh and 311 is good for riding too. I use a minidisc player and just put on head phone in my right ear so I can hear traffic on the other side.
RUSH ALL THE WAY! If you knwo of me you can expect that i was going to say this. :)
IT helps bring me energy and lifts me up in a sense. Peter gabriel is pretty good to (red rain, sledge hammer etc.) and jarhead#42 i dont like accusing people but linkin park does stink pretty bad. Also this may sound weird but a fast jazz beat/song really gets you going. Also Crash by Dave Matthews Band is really good because all the songs are pretty fast pace.

Dave matthews, peter gabriel and Rush...you don't like Linkin Park...go figure.
Slipknot, linkin park, system of a down, red hot chilli peppers, matt good, korn, maryln Manson, Me first and the gimme gimme's, rage, nofx, STP, Afi, Godsmack, Spineshank is new but some of there stuff is impressive. Sometimes even like to go back a decade to any of the 'grunge' music that was around. At time might even go back to Old school metallica, acdc, deep purple, alice cooper or black sabbath depending on the mood. As long as the song is fast and loud I generally like it (not the likes of gwar, thats pushing it) Sometimes for a real odd shot, I will listen to some east coast punkish style music. All the same groupos of songs but done by different bands from newfie land. Probably my favorite is the doltinkers but I do enjoy flogging molly and even straight up east coast like Great big sea.
There is some new hiphop/funk which I like (for the life of me I can never remember to write down the name). Brining in some jazz beat with the hiphop rymes seems does work for me, even though I really hate most hiphop. I don't like a pure jazzy songs either (I can't stand dave matthew's, his voice grates on my ear drums)

oops didn't see the road biker requirement :)..my mistake
Not a road biker but I do listen to musci to get my legs pumping faster and get my cadence up. Also gives some musical courage.

I'm rather partial to The Chemical Brothers at present for my workout tunes.
I listen to a lot of music but lately my favourite tunes that pop up on the MP3 player when I'm on the trainer are:
Control by Traci Lords and Juno Reactor
Techno Remix of Pachelbel Cannon in D by Minister
Special K by Placebo
Tears by The Cruxshadows
Atom Bomb by Fluke
Between Planets by The Jesus and Mary Chain
Crash by The Primitives
Superconnected by Belly
The Bottom Line by Big Audio Dynamite
Dr. Who Theme Cover by Orbital

I wasn't making fun...just stating a visible pattern :)
Not going there at all. We might as well argue about *nix vs windows or mountain biking vs road. :)...enjoy your music :D...oh and as mod..I reserve the right to make fun of whomever I want
Maelstrom i was kidding, i listen to wiggles most of the time! :D

For the uninitiated, Godspeed You Black Emperor! Yes, the exclamation mark is part of the name. Great for riding. Explosions in the Sky is good as well. As for more aggressive stuff, I recommend pretty much any fast, positive Hardcore/Punk jawns, especially:
Gorilla Biscuits
Turning Point
Good Clean Fun
Defiance, Ohio
Doctor Who

DFA associated stuff - you know, like Rapture, LCD Soundsystem, Liquid Liquid, other electro.
Black Flag
Turbonegro
The Smiths
