I plan to make the ride. Doing the 'Masochistic Metric'.

Thanks for the tip. I am going to email our group from Western Pa Wheelmen and see if I can stir some interest.
Looks like a great ride and as an aside Deep Creek is where my wife and I first went camping. Great country in that area.

I wanted to, but it overlaps with Bike Virginia. Looks like a great ride though.

I grew up in that "area". Spent a lot of time at Deep Creek and the Wisp. Going back to visit friends and do the ride.

With the names and descriptions of the events, it's great they can get anyone to participate;)

It is not an easy ride, for sure!

They had it filled last year. Limit for the ride is 400 entrants.

Hey, I know it's beautiful country up there. I used to work in the Savage River State Forest back in the 70's. I'd love to be in good enough shape to do any one of those rides.

Likewise ;)
I grew up in Cumberland and LaVale. Was at the lake or skiing at the Wisp all the time. One of my best friend's lives near the lake and we visit all the time. He has ridden the route and said there is one hill he had to stop 3 times on and eventually had to stand and pedal just go anywhere. And he is geared way down. Nice....
I told him to have his wife run a chase vehicle with mountain bikes on it for the climbs :)

I signed up for the 126 mile ride which no doubt is going to be the toughest ride I have tried all year. I am almost pre-convinced that I will have to bail at mile 60 for the century. I was going to post a separate question on this but how would you approach the week prior to the ride?

Do nothing on the bike? Regular schedule of riding? Avoid all hills?

The reason I ask is that we have a hard club ride with many hills on the schedule the Thursday prior to the ride.
It was rained out the week before.
