OK I'm a big guy, even my straight leg pants are big, anyways I found out today my chain likes pants...so it ate the leg on em...anyways do they make some type of open ended sock or something of some sort you can put around your pants??? any ideas helpful.
1 Tuck your pants cuffs into your sox
2 Use a rubber band to keep your pants out of the chain
3 Make a strap of cloth with Velcro for same purpose.
4 Ge a bike with a chainguard.
(1) is easiest, but carries some risk -- cuffs may pop out. (2) is almost as easy. Quite a few folks use (3), sometimes with a wide rectangle of cloth that also acts as a pants shield. Personally, I find (4) the least hassle, but it may be impractical for you unless you are getting a new bike.
Hmm...you could even cut off the end of an old sock and use that. Worth a try!

Where do you get bike chainguards? I've never seen one and occasionally you end up riding with the normal trousers on which causes problems.

A piece of hook and loop (Velcro) strap. You can buy them just about everywhere. Heck, Wal-Marts Material dept. has it for cheap!
I have several of these:

You can get them at Nashbar (http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=115&subcategory=1130&brand=&sku=2127&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=). Or they have them on the counter at my LBS. I bet they have them at yours too. The great thing about them is that you can use them off the bike when you're running or walking. Put them on your wrist or your backpack too. Or your dog's collar.

Hockey Socks.
Just roll your pants up halfway to your calf.
It also has the side effect of looking gangsta. ;)
Or just convert to wearing bike shorts or tights. You get lots less air resistance too.

I go with the rubber band usually, or tucking my pants leg into my sock.
Years ago bike manufacturers put a nice aluminum ring along the large chainring that is very effective at preventing the chainring from snagging your pants leg. Alas, we are all racers now and cannot stand to have the weight on our bikes.
Look for a velcro strap or bungy cord to wrap around your pants leg. A spare toe strap also works.

You can still get caught between the ring and the chainring.
Roll the pant leg. Why bother with any other method? It's fine for short rides and if you're going to be riding hard, it's not a good idea to wear pants, in my opinion.
well I prefer that oz or 2 lol
but there was a streachy with a hook on each end you could find a an Army Surplus
for this also / not sure if you can still find them or not but they worked great
