Gina and I figured we'd do a ride around home since there was slight chance of rain. We started at Wardman Bullock near Cherry then headed up Old Cajon Blvd which runs along the side of Cajon Pass heading to Vegas on the 15. Small rollers are no problem but Devore Rd has a max of 10%. Gina was not happy on that section ha ha! We made our way up but by the time we hit the top it was getting pretty windy. Thank goodness it was not a headwind on the climb. But it sure slowed our speeds on the descent. I wil add , Gna was heavy breathing pretty good on the 10% section. I thought about recoding it but the other things coming out of her mouth are not forum material. She's like the exorcist when she climb haha!

Now the real kicker is climbing Kenwood back into Devore. Max grade there is 16% according to Mapmyride. Some argue MMR is not accurate on sections of less than 1/2 mile so I used a .6 section. Some make a big deal about it but who cares, I use it as a reference. Overall I added up about 2,500 ft gain for the 33 miles. Gina is not a happy camper on the steep climbs but after it's all over and done, she says it's all in good training and suggest we do the ride once a week. Heck, save us some gas on traveling to the trail.

I was a little disappointed with the road, pretty bumpy but nothing dangerous and nothing noticeable on the climbs. We did run across a gal on the way up. Pretty fast gal just flying by. Nice big smile as you can see from the still shot(and video)! Only two other riders on the road as you see from the other still (and video ha ha!). On the way up, we had a couple of cars roll by with slight honks and lots of waves and cheers. That's always cool!

I was really shocked that there weren't any other riders up on the pass.

Few pics at the top, climbing Devore and what in the heck is that thing? Animal looked like somebody in a costume ha ha! Gina posing by a landmark with details of The Blue Cut (History of the Pass).

That was a little different, nice change of pace. You have so many great places to ride out there.

I always wondered what sort of mad people rode that road. Now I know! I used to live in Ridgecrest just up the highway from Victorville. So I know the Cajon Pass well. neat vid!

I am such a poser compared to you with the video making. Nice job.

Nudist colony? And you know this how?:innocent:

Lama (aka pushmepullyou): I have some lama that I ride by here and they are mean as heck. They growl and spit if I stop to talk to them. :twitchy:

I say without pictures, there is no nudist colony. He needs to show some pictures to prove its there. :D

No way man, your vids are cool!:thumb: I've haed a ton of people mention the colony a ton of times since I was a kid. We get a good laugh everytime we drive by as someone always makes a few funny comments.

I figured it was a lama but I've never seen one up that close. Pretty strange looking face.:D

Haha! I've seen some specials on 20/20 type shows where they cover people of nudist colonies. I don't think I'd want the pics as most interviewed made me think of the old days when people needed leather bags to carry their gun powder!:roflmao2:

:roflmao2: at 1:45. Yup, you saw me:D:p

You should get a Garmin. They are lots of fun, and a better way to measure a grade than mapmyride;)

Thought about the Garmin but after doing the rides so many times, not really anything different other than a few feet here and there. Pretty basic guy, I look at my distance and not much more. I only looked up the elevation cause Gina asked about the gain after she said she felt like she had just climbed GMR. Maybe get one for Gina?.:D

Yup, special guest appearance by Freighttraininguphill.:roflmao2:
