I picked up a couple bikes from a junk pile and want to make sure I'm not going to ruin something valuable by repainting/cleaning/etc these up.

Peugeot Super Sport ~1982

Empire Professional, unsure of year, had "Made in Japan" sticker on downtube.

The Empire looks somewhat interesting. What is the frame tubing (I see a decal on the seat tube)? That Peugeot may have a Swiss threaded BB. I hope not.

The only thing I can read on the Empire is MADE IN JAPAN, the other decals are unreadable...
The peugeot will probably just be freshened up, was mostly wondering if theres a market for it and what I should ask. I'm 6'3" and way too big for either of these bikes...

Neither will be worth enough to warrant a quality repaint. Wheels don't appear to match. You have at least a couple of steel rims there, which are value killers around here. I see some rust on the Peugeot. Peugeot gets a lot more name recognition. It really depends on how they look once you clean them up.

unless you're planning on restoring the bike with original decals and whatnot, please don't repaint any bike

So don't bother doing a good paint, but don't do one at all?

I was planning on redoing the same paint and ordering new decals. While replacing the cables and brakes and what not. But keep them pretty much original.
