Touring - Touring Israel
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I searched through previous posts and didn't find any info on this and I haven't had any luck with web searches, either.
Do you live in Israel or have you toured through the country? I'm looking to do a solo tour from the North to South of Israel this Fall and am interested in available resources for touring cyclists. If all else fails, I'll just show up and figure it out, but I do prefer doing some planning first.

I didn't have a bike when I was there, but the one bit of advice I can think of right away is to stop at Beersheba. You miss most of the Negev desert and don't have to spend time in Eilat.
Also, from what I remember the drivers were just a little terrifying.
If you have more specific questions, I might be able to help more.

I toured in Israel a long time ago. It's a crowded place. I imagine that it's even harder to find quiet roads now. The drivers were pretty bad. The northern part of the country was better for riding than central Israel. I didn't bike in the Negev.
This is from 2007; a 1200 km dedicated bike path through israel: quote: "... should be completed in two to three years..."
edit: here's the official website (http://www.ibt.org.il/content3/heb/english)but it seems to still be in the planning stage :(
