After 2 Rockhoppers, an FCR 3 fitness bike, an OCR 3 road bike and now an Allez Comp with 105 group(double) I am ashamed to report I have failed at all previous attempts! I am 30 pounds heavier(332 LBS). I have finally snapped and have changed the lifestyle!
Sold the distractions
Riding everyday for 7.5 miles@ 14.5 MPH
Eating 2000 calories daily.
I will add pictures of my equipment and myself tonight. Please get used to me here, you guys might be the best/only friends I will have for the next 30 years. :D

Sir-Loin: For me the really big deal that made this time different than all the other attempts was figuring out why I failed before. Solving this is the key.

Very true words here. Its also important not to over do it. Ease into it rather than going hardcore, unless hardcore is the only thing that works for you :)

There she is, I am at 330 LBS and dropping. I spin for 30 minutes in the morning( My boss is so badass he supports me spinning at work in our gym!) and ride 7.5 miles a night at the house. I am single, live with friends who are helping my diet and I have eliminated all distractions.
I am doing my best here and my Allez is holding up will. SPD's need put on and a first tune up is almost due, this is going well for all the suffering I am enduring!

@ Barkeatr, One thing for me is the distractions. I gave up motorcycle racing because I got fat, I then allowed other hobbies to fill the void and told myself "I am young(29) and can get it back whenever I want" I had to cut these out this time. Sold the video games, the r/c cars, etc....
I now have only the bike and work....

sounds like a plan Sir Loin! only your bike and work you say. Good deal, makes me think of my favorite song, racin in the streets that has this line: "Some guys they just give up living And start dying little by little, piece by piece Some guys come home from work and wash up And go racin' in the street"
Hey Jethro56, thanks for the PM, i prepare a reply but it got erased due to that 50 post rule or some such. Funny as i tried to heed your warning and clicked on the link you sent..but Just wanted to say thanks and once i figger out how to reply I will!

Bark - You can reply by making 50 posts. we all had to have 50 posts first. It sucks, but what can you do.
Sir-Lion good luck with everything. I hope it works out for you, with everything you are trying. I also hope you don't get too bored after giving up all your distractions.

Sir-Loin, good luck with all. I am on the same boat although heavier than you. Trying to get a rythm and get on my bike regularly. Work, kids and "distractions" are contributing to my disaster.
I will keep tabs and will stay in touch.
regards,
jim
