Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - flite reissue. any good?

i need a new saddle. i've been looking for an OG flite but no luck thus far. I refuse to spend ~$200 on ebay.

There's a guy in my hood selling a Selle Italia Ti Flite saddle in perfect condition for $50.
Its a reissue but he says that its real leather. Is this true? I just want to do it right the first time so I don't have to shelve out more bucks down the road.

some people expieriment w/ 10 different saddles before finding the right one. its all about the width of the seat compared to the width of your seat. most lbs will have a device which is used for measuring exactly how wide your butt is (sit bones). once you know that, your in business. I would determine what size you need before shelling out anymore cash.

I have one of those that I got from my brother...he's had it for 15 years, tried it on 4-5 different bikes trying to love it and always came away in pain. I sat on it and sold my Brooks. If they fit your rump they are great if not they are just a torture device

For the record I have seen a "New" Flite next to my OG Flite and other than scuffs I can't tell the difference

I would like to try a Flite. I got some long rides planned for the summer and the SLR isn't so great for anything above 25 miles.

15 years ago I bought new Flite.
It is still in use today and shows almost no wear.
A couple years ago I built a new bike, so I went to eBay and snagged a used one in mint condition for it.
During this time I tried a Brooks Swift for a couple years, but it was not as comfortable, nor as durable as a Flite.

The thing about seats is if it's comfortable the the cost is negligible, if it hurts then its worthless to you Ebay has lots of nice saddles that weren't "the one"

the flite gave me the worst junk numbness of any name brand saddles i've owned so far.

so far I really like my carbon aliante. I wasn't expecting to since i didn't care for the arione, but it's a great saddle. don't know how the non-carbon one compares (the carbon one has some crazy kevlar hammock thing going on in the middle, don't know if the regular Ti/steel version has this hammock business)

Ha, I'm afraid I won't like the Flite at all, so if I trade I'll be left with no saddle for my bum. :(

At least the SLR is doing me good for 90% of my riding.

When you find a saddle that you 'really' like, buy another one as a spare.
'Cause they are forever changing/updating saddles/models.
I ride a Selle San Marco Integra on our tandem and a Fizik Alliante on my single.
Both have thousands of happy miles on them.
Just put a spare Serfas Curva on rear of tandem for stoker as she wore out her Kuota and was getting a bit antsy.
I also tend to like most hard saddles including the Ti Flite and the SLR.

I just picked up the flite ti 1990 reissue for my new build, if that's the one you're referring to then yes, it is real leather. It took over a week to dial it in and get used to it but since then it's become my favorite saddle. (my old favorite was a selle italia superleggera, which is very similar to the concor). It has very little padding but is still extremely comfortable on long rides. Saddle choice is very subjective but I highly recommend trying it out.

I should try that. I would really like my EXACT saddle but with a cutout in it. SLC looks hot, too, but oh so $$.

Love my original, but it didn't like the rain, and I had to take it off. I'm thinking about fixing it, but it's pretty ripped up.
