Fifty Plus (50+) - Birthday Greetings - a short feel good story
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I was on a short ride with a neighbor, when he asked if I’d mind stopping at a local drug store so he could get a birthday card. I said I was OK with it and asked whose birthday it was. He said it was his. After wishing him a happy birthday I asked, “Do you always send yourself a card?” His reply was pretty cool. He said, “No, I send it to my mother. After all, she’s the one who did all the work to get me here. I like to say thanks at least once a year.” And sure enough, he walked out of the store with a thank you card. It had been a misty, dreary ride, but this just brightened up the rest of the trip back home.
That is to cool -- bright spot in a day can come from anywhere.
Thanks for the lift... ... and the idea...
This is the best idea I've read about in many, many years. I regret that my Mom is gone and I'll never have the opportunity to follow that example. Your friend is wise.
