I have a world of respect for Hincapie and appreciate his honesty. Anyone not burying their head in the sand knows the doping abuse in the sport and its good to see people coming forward so we can all move onward

Yeah, I don't really see what George had to gain personally by this thing. He's the first truly credible witness who's come forward on this. I think it just proves the pressure that a federal investigation has on people in their personal decisions. I think most riders realized quickly that it was no joke and had to come clean, or else. With that much pressure, some were going to come clean, and those who didn't (and lied to the court) were bound to find themselves in a tight spot.

I've cheered my fair share for Lance through the years, but it's time for him to suck it up and be honest with us. It would be shameful for him to continue fighting when it's pretty obvious that it's over for him. Some fell gracefully, and others not so gracefully. George may have been dishonest for a long time but coming clean like this is leagues more classy than Lance's arrogant dishonesty. Still curious to see what this will mean for the remaining ex-US Postal guys who have yet to be caught for their almost certain involvement during those years as well.

All in all, I still think it's going to be good for the sport, and am somberly happy to see it finally going down like this. I think this is especially true after the Contador thing is being handled so strangely.

I'd have thought if he wanted fame and fortune out of coming clean he'd have gotten in on the 60 minutes action, which he declined.

If you want to continue to be a believer, that's your choice. But there is going to be more coming out of this, and at some point I've no doubt your faith will be shaken. For the rest of us it's pretty much already game set, match and introducing Lance to his new cell mate Marion.

I was all prepared to say eff you Lance, but Hincappie is denying he said anything to CBS news and that he doesn't know where they are getting their infomation.

Hincapie never spoke to 60 minutes? Duh! 60 minutes never claimed that he ever did to begin with. Sources close to Hincapie spoke to 60 minutes. What is telling is that Hincapie refuses to refute those sources.

Does it matter? Not really. Hincapie's "trustworthiness" is due to his loyalty to Armstrong over the years. His credibility was never in question until now. The truth is out there, and he is And was no more credible than any of the other former teammates of Armstrong.

Wow, now that Hincapie is spilling the beans on Lance, its safe to say Lance is a cheat. And now we can confirm that Contador is even a worse cheat, and probably the rest of the pelton are just a bunch of cheats. This sport is so corrupt, there is no going back now. I always wondered how these "Climbers", never looked gassed after going miles and miles up 8%+ grades. I wonder if I messed with my blood oxygen, I could make it to the pros.

If you are not catching cheaters in a sport you are not looking hard enough. There is a large incentive to cheat and even with strong penalty someone is going to try to cheat to get ahead. It is just worth it.

I just hope that if and when Lance is busted it doesn't ruin all of the good things he has done not just for cycling but in general.

If you're part of an ongoing investigation and talking to an active grand jury you should proabbly have a can of shut the F up and not be talking to the press.

Actually it does matter if someone is repeating George's testimony or speculating on what he said for that matter. It taints the entire grand jury process.

Anonymous sources are **** these days and news organizations will say and do anything to make a buck. If I had a nickle for ever time a paper dropped the anonymous source BS these days I'd be able to quit working. If your source wants to be anonymous, I say F them and wait for the Grand Jury report. There's just far too much bull**** out there anymore.

+1 -- Though I should state that I hope that the end game here is not jail time for LA!! (I also hope that these revelations do not destroy all of the good that he has done regarding cancer research, etc.)

"That's not the story we want to tell."

So, just saying...these news shows are only peripherally interested in the truth. It's money and ratings.

Grand Jurys are less about court and more about fact finding. They complete the testimony and report thier findings, and at times provide recommendations to avoid what has been investigated in the future.

Suing for slander or libel in the US is exceedingly difficult. Especially in a case where you have to prove something like you did not dope. He has sued people previously in England and France where Freedom of Speech is not as paramount as the US.
